Power loss 2nd and 3rd gear (any idea will be appreciated)

Featured Replies

I have some issues with my car....first was the stalling engine in the morning (here) and then is the sudden loss of power in 2nd or 3rd gear at ~ 2200rpm,it feels bad ,and I'm sure they are both related.

I replaced the CTS with a genuine one,and I replaced the Throttle Body believe it or not.

Nothing appears on VCDS

I unplugged the MAF with the engine running....nothing changed, drive the car a bit ,runns the same but when I try to park the idle will drop hard, reconnect the maf (engine still running) and it dies

Next step I;m thinking about the coil pack,I have the old model (not included in the recall) and it's original and old.

I'd try another MAF to see if it helps. If it dies when you plug it in, it probably isn't working well. Have you tried monitoring airflow with VCDS?

Sounds like it's going into soft limp mode, maybe it's running too lean because of the faulty MAF. You should be able to see this by monitoring your fuel trims with VCDS I think.

tonight I'll barrow my friend's VCDS (genuine) and I have the entire weekend for testing.

I want to run a maf test in 2nd gear

What else should I check?Last time I could'n fine the fuel trims :wonder:

AGU or AUM engine?

AGU

For fuel trims, it's Group 032, MAF airflow reading are group 002. I presume it's an AGU engine as it has the old style ignition coils?

I measured the MAF in second gear at the max rev....values were between 124 and 130 g/s   so this is perfect normal

I made a log but is a .csv file and you can't read it ... the file is messed up

Aaaaand...I can't find the fuel trims

No, its not. AGU has narrowband lambda and older version ECU that doesn`t support that.

and one more thing....other values wich are not quite ok....

coolant temp is about 98-99 deg

air intake temp is about 56 deg

supply voltage 13.9V and with more load from accesories drops to 11.8V
