Non Skoda dealer paying off finance

Featured Replies

I'm swapping my car for an older car that I'm going to own outright and not have any monthly finance payments on.

I driving down the the dealer in my Yeti and swapping it for a Freelander. (Several threads on this)

My question is this:

I have been told that I will be given a contract that means that the dealer is responsible for paying off my outstanding finance and that it would stand up in a court of law if the finance wasn't paid off.

I then take the Freelander away and drive hone Yeti-less.

I then hope that the finance is paid off and I'm not liable. I then get confirmation the the finance is paid off in about 2 weeks from VW Finance.

Is this normal?

Be very careful with vw finance, my wife bought a golf with finance. Deal was take the finance, get free servicing even if you pay it off immediately. She questioned this but the dealer insisted it was right. She paid it off in full after a week. A year later vw are demanding a four figure sum in interest.

I did this and received a letter frim them (VW Finance) saying they had no further interest in the car.

I assume you received this letter? This would absolve you from any further payments / debt.

All this is standard. I have had dealers pay off my finance several times.

Thanks.

The Yeti is going to a Skoda dealer in Fareham.

The dealer I bought from won't get paid until the finance is paid off by the Skoda dealer so it is in everybody's interests for it to be paid off.

It all went smoothly.

Not uncommon at all RH.

Has the dealer said that they will pay the finance off immediately (e.g whilst you are there)? If so, ask for a screen shot to prove that the transaction has taken place.

Good luck with the FL

We did, which makes the invoice received recently all the more baffling
