Should be running by Sunday

Featured Replies

Now have all the physical bits I need to finish it off, have the loom coming Thursday to bring the engine wiring all in order.

I can't bloody wait.

Oh, and I could do with a quick tutorial to use vag-com 311 to reprogram keys. ;) I've not used it yet actually so want to be clear-headed when it comes to it, so I'm not stuck at the last hurdle. :)

The VAG COM website has good tutorials on programming keys etc.

 That'll be ross-tech right? :) Thanks for pointer.

Great news, but you didn't say which Sunday.

:nono: We can all wonder that but we really musn't dishearten Jason by asking the question. :(

Thread moved to The Motorway as it is likely to be of wider interest than just Fabia owners....

I think he means this Sunday if only he can get the whotsit to work, assuming all the parts he doesn't know he needs yet arrive on time.

I think he was looking for Ross Tech not www.ross-tech.com :D;)

I believe this is the important page, and it seems easy, but I think for me there's a couple of differences?

1) the 7 digit pin it mentions is a FOUR digit code for me, which I now have.

2) I believe vag com works from having the ignition turned on, right? Soooo, what key shall I use initially to activate vag com, before doing the insert key, turn, etc to recode?

So I'll be the first (bar yourself) to see it running?

You are correct and that is a very good follow-up question, Jason. :rubchin: Assuming that you are using a registered copy of VAG-COM, you could ask Ross-Tech.

Depends on how long you hang around. You'll be the first to see it though. :)

It could be a late night Sunday!

Denis? Ahem. Of course. :)

I'm not planning on sticking about too long, about the time it takes to shoehorn some wheels in a Fabia, eat a nice Sunday lunch (if you are still ok with that) and of course, wash it down with a pint or 4.

You have a four digit code, Skoda havent gone across to seven pin yet.

It matters not which key you use, the imobilizer doesnt cut ignition only the engine ECU.

Are you getting a vRS interior too?

Not sure about this running lark ...i should let it walk for a while first :D

 Thanks Lummox.

It will be being "walked" first - I need to put 500 town "regular gear changing" miles for the clutch. :( Can't give it any beans for quite some time after its running. :o

no vRS interior planned yet - bar the 6 speed knob which is already in. :D

Get a custom leather retrim, go the whole hog :) have you put on the vRS front/rear bumper?

  • Author

Rear, yes, front, no. Not bothered about the front now, as I've butchered the front to make it individual and perfect for me now, Also having the "standard" looking front retains some of the "non-vRS" personality. ;)

I was going to say it'd end up being a vRS D.I.Y :D

I do think the new "sport" front bumper may look pretty neat on it though...
