Waste Gate

Featured Replies

Does anyone know if it is normal to occassionally hear the waste gate fluttering?

...and "No!" I have put my DV in the wrong way round.;):D

i put mine in the wrong way and it still flutters occasionally..

about 2.5k part throttle high gear?

......not sure of the revs but when it does happen it's when I've come off the gas to change gear. (I have the Dynatwist CAI fitted so I can hear the DV venting.)

I know that if it flutters all the time that's bad for the turbo.....the DV isn't venting properly. But is it ok to flutter occassionlly?

I have a Bailey DV and it's about a month old now so I assume it's working ok so, would the fluttering point to an N75 problem (if there's any problem at all)?

mine flutters as does ians..

Dont think its anything to worry about....

Some cars do it more than others

I have the Bailey and its been noisier than standard from when it was first fitted. Car is still performing AOK.

Cheers Chaps!

The waste gate on my standard 4x4 flutters with vitually every gear change. It seems to have got progressively noisier over the

last few weeks.

Is this a bad thing?

The car is a 2001 model with 86K on the clock.

Phil,

the waste gate on my RS flutters occasionally however if it does it all the time I reckon your DV knackered. The waste gate fluttering all the time isn't good for your turbo and generally would mean your DV is working properly i.e. excess boost venting through waste gate as opposed recirc back into airbox.

Trip to garage to check out your DV; have you got OEM DV or something else?

Cheers.

Adrian.

Thanks Adrian.

It is completely stock so haven't any after market things on this one it being a company car.

I actually like the sound but will get it checked.
