250 pound for front discs and pads what should i get

Featured Replies

as above guys that is my budget for a set of new front discs and pads on my octavia 1 vrs i no the ferodo ds 2500 pads are excellent but at 150 pounds just above the budget i have for a set of pads realistically am looking at about 150 for the discs and about a 100 for the pads i heard the mintex 1144 are good but after i had mintex on my last car before the vrs and they were shockingly bad has kind of put me off spending money on mintex ever again was wondering if there were any good pads around this price that were alternatives to the 2 mentioned above as am kinda sure am gonna get the black diamond discs unsure of pads unless i can be convinced different all help is much appreciated

How about Pagid? I've got the Octavia brakes on mine and recently paid £115 all round for discs only from ECP, I'd imagine you'll be able to get Pagid front discs and pads for less than your budget from there. Apparently they are made in the same factory as Brembo products and are standard equipment on rather powerful vehicles. Good enough for me :-)

yeah i have pagid discs and pads on the back but was looking for some more stopping power and standard pads dont seem to be up to the job as since the remap and now i have just added full turbo back system and toyo sports fmic the power through the rev range is awesome but i am seriously having to bhrake a mile before the corner as they are definately not up to the job

Standard 312mm vented pagid discs with ds2500 pads. You would be hard pressed to find a better combo for the standard caliper setup. The pagid discs are the high carbon, coated ones so they don't rust like the Brembo sets do. Drilled/grooved/drilled+grooved don't really make that much of a difference for the price and some are more likely to get damaged than others..

Yep + 1 for this set up. Speak to Dave Brown at Vagbremtechnic if you wish to go the DS2500 route. He can supply at an excellent price.

is it worth putting the ds2500s all round or just pagid on back and ds2500s on the front

Only on the front will be fine.

Rears don't work anywhere near as hard as the fronts due to the significant weight transfer, so just fronts will be good
