rear fog lights

Featured Replies

Just noticed today the octavia only has the wiring for the drivers side rear fog light, so i decided to splice in an extension from drivers side to passenger side so i now have a pair. Has anyone else done this?

I've done this to previous cars. I've not checked the vRS, I'll have a look tomorrow.

Yes, quite a few members have done it over the years - including me. There used to be a DIY guide here but I haven't seen it for some considerable time.

It seems strange that everything is there for the fogs except the wire! My dads passat was the same.

It is common and perfectly normal on most cars.

All you need is one wire (1.5 meter long and a pin).

Place a missing pin (with this wire) to left connecting jack which is missing (3rd one in a row if I remember) and then go with this cable to right housing, drill a small hole through plastic near (+) line of a fog bulb, pull this wire through housing and solder it to (+) line of right working fog bulb. Ground is already there if I'm correct.

Guess that was it...if I recall it correctly. :wonder:

Ive already done it, i just dont get why they only wire up the one light, i think it looks better having the two lights (when foggy)

Foglights are to warn following drivers, not blind them

two rear fogs is overkill + twice as blinding

imho

There is only one so there not confused with brake lights

My old vectras and bmws had 2. Hate having odd lights, like some cars that have 1 reverse light.

I believe that when only one bulb is fitted they tend to be placed on the offside of the car.  This is fine driving in your native country, but say you hop over to Frog Land and it is foggy.  Any vehicles approaching in thick fog may think your car is a motorbike given the position of the bulb to the road edge.

Therefore 2 in your home country - not really required, two when driving on the other side of the road is a bonus, imho.
