Rang up the dealer to see if I could get any sense out of them, seems my Citigo Sport is not even being built until week 37!.I am being told it will be delivered late September,I reckon early October at the earliest, which is 3-4 weeks later than I was expecting, wish I had not bothered now.

This is why I would never order a car that still has not been built.  I would much rather have a stock car quickly than have to wait and wait and wait for a car just for the sake of some optional extras (which can cause you insurance problems in anycase).

What optional extras?,thats why I went for bulk standard Sport without any options because I thought that would be quicker. If the car is not being built until week 37,from what I read on these forums it takes aprox' 3 weeks to even arrive at the dealers so that's about the 2' week in October by the time I pick the car up but the dealer still reckons last week in September for collection.

Im too impatient, thats why I bought a pre reg :D

Phoned on Thursday afternoon and collected it Saturday morning!

Can't be doing with all that waiting for delivery lark

My dealer had one of each colour Sport in stock for immediate delivery.  Red one and black ones now sold with only the white (which is by far the least nice looking) still in stock.

Am I the only one with the ability to plan ahead? So, for various reasons, I want a new Citigo in May, I know there is a 10-12 week wait....so I go to the dealer about 14 weeks before I want the car. Not too difficult...or am I too organised?

That would be fine if the reason for impatience was an absolute need to have a new car on a certain date, however the real reason these waits are horrible is the natural human desire to have that new shiney toy they want sooner rather than later.  The almost 3 weeks I had to wait for my Citygo is by far the longest I have ever waited for a car and it was hell on Earth despite the fact that my then current car was running as well as it ever had.

That's what I thought would happen-if there was no car already in the system the dealer would just source another Sport from another dealer ready for early September, apparently Mitchells 'do not operate like that'.

The other dealers would not release them.  I wanted a Red Elegance.  There were none built in the sytem except those in stock or booked by another dealer.  Noen would give them up, so I had to pay extra for a coulur that is OK (Silver) but better suited to an old persons car.

OK, yes, I am too organised! But that's the way I have always bought new cars - decide when to change and work backwards. And I don't get that impatient when waiting- 14 weeks....nothing!

I waited 19 weeks for my Citigo last year.

The original estimate was 12 weeks, way off.

Worth the wait though.

Sounds familiar leckman..... At the end of June told delivery would be end of August....... actually build week 37..... So end of September at the earliest....

Same here. Ordered 20.June. Was told September. When I checked up last week it had been delayed to end October.

Same here, i made an offer for the demonstrator i'd driven on the test drive. I said "When can i have it?", their answer was "When do you want it?"

Just noticed that Grimsby has opened a new terminal which means that larger car carriers can discharge there from now on.It seems ship with a capacity of 800 cars max' was the norm, now they can take ships nearly double that, hopefully that will bring the delivery times now a bit.

I ordered mine 3 weeks ago and have a build date of 16th September, so some dealers cant be re-allocating their 'stock' car order!

I'm with Oxonboxn. Our Corsa just scrapped through an MOT in September so we started looking for a second hand car in October. By late November we had chosen our Citigo with lots of extras. Even my wife said we have to have heated seats and that saying something? My Wife usually says as long as it goes I don't care what it has in the way of toys. We went for the options as we intend to keep the car for a long time and will use them.

I ordered mine in July and was told 27 weeks to delivery.

We found out a couple of weeks ago that build would commence in week 30 for delivery late September or early October.

Will be interested how long from build to delivery as mine is being built next week!

Yeah... how long from build to delivery. I checked yesterday and was told that my CitiGo was now under production.

However, the dealer could not tell me how long till delivery other than - most likely within the next 2-3 weeks.

Just been told that mine was in build this week.  Apparently it takes 81 minutes to build a Citigo!

I was also told that the dealer doesn't get to know where the car is until it is loaded onto the ship at Emden.
