Which port do they arrive in the uk at? Also how often are they loaded. I.e if the car was built on a Monday would it be on the ship Wednesday or would it have to wait till the following week?

  • Just spoken to the dealer,my Sport has been built and is now in transit to Emden. The waiting really begins now!.

  • Unlucky mate :( Hang in there, be worth it in the end Damo

Rung my dealer. He's said it's on their system as been loaded on to the ferry.

Think this goes from Emden to Grimsby....

Had alook on http://www.marinetraffic.com/ais/datasheet.aspx?datasource=PORT_MOVES&MOVE_TYPE=1&PORT_ID=175&PORT_NAME=EMDEN

The Goodship "Autorunner" left Emden at 1455. Looks like it's just clearing the end of the Friesian Islands..... (you know where the Riddle in the Sands was set)......

Quite pleased.                   http://www.marinetraffic.com/ais/embed.aspx?zoom=3&shownames=true&oldmmsi=255802860&olddate=lastknown#

The ships sail from Emden to either the Tyne,Grimsby or Sheerness. As to the loading sequence haven't a clue.Looks like the Highway class of ship are normally used ie Isar Highway,Schelde Highway,Ems Highway etc.

Looks like the Autorunner is doing the Sheerness run and the Neckar Highway is doing the Grimsby run.

That's whats happens when you jump to conclusion. Picking any old name with an automotive connection, looking at it's recent itinerary....

Mine was ordered early Sept. For delivery in Dec. Not ideal but I can live with that. Will certainly appreciate the heated seats more...

Anyone know how long the actual build process takes for a Citigo... is it all done in a day or does it take them much longer?

Apparently the Citigo,up! and Mii combined assembly line at the VW plant outside Bratislava turns out 1000 cars per day.

Impressive but did they start building them all first thing that same morning or does the galvanise paint and assemble process take longer?

Rang the dealer up(again!) and I am on course for delivery next week.

Well, well I have just rang up SUK customer services and asked if they could tell me where my car is-its still in EMDEN!!!.,so much for delivery this week.Managed to get my order number for future reference.Motor dealers, dont you just love them?.

I read on the  Octavia forum the vw is having issues with enough places on the ships!

If I have wait my turn for shipment fair enough, but the dealer told me last Tuesday my car was due in last week with delivery this week, now I find out this morning my car is not even in the country.

Spoke to SUK customer services again,it seems my car is now in the UK and said something about a 'transport order being raised'??.I will wait for Mitchells to ring me up with any info'.

I recall when we bought our Yeti last year that once the cars arrive in Grimsby, the dealer doesn't know when individual cars will arrive until the transporting company notifies them.

Back to ordering, I have always thought that ordering in early summer or late Spring was going to add time as I think they still have almost complete close downs as the workforce goes on holiday.

I work with the French part of our company and most of the guys in Paris were on holiday from first week in August right up to our August Bank Holiday.

Got my car OK but when I got home found that the leather hand brake grip was missing!!!PICT0102.jpg

leckman: you REALLY didn't notice until you'd driven home? No marks for observation, then!

To be serious....that's quite an oversight by the PDI people at the dealer. Do you think one of their staff could have helped themselves to it?

  • Author

No,did not notice any thing until I pulled up outside my house,I was in 'little boy with new toy' mode at the dealers.Mitchells are sending a new grip out and see if I can fit it myself.Yes,awful oversight by the person who PDI'd the car.

  • Author

And yes I do think some thieving ******** has had it away there has been a grip on the handbrake beforehand.

A polite request to all you Sport owners who have taken delivery recently, was the free litre of oil in the boot of your cars, theres nought in mine,is that another item that's gone missing from my car?.Best check before I start complaining.

Mine has a litre of Castrol in the boot.

Thanks for that.

Leckman sounds like you've had some real disappointment with your car, especially after waiting so long. I'd be kicking up hell with the dealer if it was me. Some compensation is due I think, along with a strong email to skoda customer services. Hope you get sorted out.

I got the oil in mine.

I'd definitely complain to the dealer and I'd make it clear to them that they will score badly on the customer survey. As has been said a strongly worded email to skoda uk is worth it too. You deserve better than the hassle you've had mate!

I didn't get any oil with mine. Probably because it was a pre reg :(
