Skoda Fabia vrs

Featured Replies

Hiya,

just bought a Fabia vrs after having a peugeot 206 auto! Very impressed! Only problem is that it seems to be losing coolant quite rapidly. We've put a new coolant cap on for now which seems a better fit. Hoping that will fix the problem, and it's not a radiator or head gasket issue. Aside from that, just a wheel bearing seems to be gone.

Otherwise, it's spot on! I love it! (Especially the 130bhp... for now)

make sure you get the coolant leakage sorted out, dont risk it, carry a few 2ltr bottles of water in the boot till your sure its 100%  fixed

Yeah, i'm currently carrying water around with me :) Hoping to get it on a ramp soon! Pros and cons of marrying a mechanic!

Welcome to the site

It is possible that the coolant bottle may need replacing.

They are sealed around the middle and have been known to split over time.

That then means they empty down to half full once things get warm and expand and the split opens - which is obviously no good given the max and min levels are both around 3/4 full

It looks as though the coolant bottle has been replaced already. Also seems to be pushing it out around the top. There seems to be coolant on the top of the bottle. Might be worth another look though, are there likely to be any visible splits?

Thanks for posts by the way!

Oh, by the way. Am I right in saying that you do the custom badges? Interested in a black badge with a red superman logo for bonnet/ steering wheel!

Welcome.

Hi and welcome aboard.

Update: we did a sniffer test and think the head gasket has gone. If it turns out that the head is cracked (worst case scenario), where could I buy another one?

Any advice would be much appreciated!
