Octavia 1U Van ...

Featured Replies

eg Van version of the estate - PD130 engine - would have sold like hot cakes

there is ... never seen one these - Skoda Drive Octavia 1.9 TDI practice 2006

I wonder if this was used to get rid of the last of the mk1 estate body shell?

Its a PD100 engine.

I think this was also sold as the Laura Praktik in some markets (not be confused with the Skoda Praktik which was the the 2-seat panel van version of the Roomster).

Seen those Roomster vans - just seem too small to be that useful

There was, maybe still is, a MkI Fabia Praktik van. Would make an ace sleeper IMO. IIRC they are all LHD though.

I like how it still has the rear doors...

Kinda looks like someone Body Colour matched the back windows as a 100% Tint..

I've seen that on many mk2 fleet vehicles - that white tinted/wrapped stuff to give the appearance of a van - but still an estate inside

When my Octy estate shell was waiting to be collected for scrap it was sat on Audi S3 alloys and sitting high on 225s, I couldn't help thinking how cool it would've looked as a pickup

Like the idea, not sure about that conversion though - the white bits destroys the look

A 4x4 allroad type pickup could have been a handy vehicle

That's just had metal panels put in the place of glass.  I wouldn't describe it as a proper van.  It's still got all 4 doors too. :D

It's a tax thing, van tax was often cheaper in a lot of countries. Years ago there were as many small car-derived vans in Ireland as cars because it was less expensive on RFL.

There are numerous tax advantages for a business in this country too - Annual investment allowance would allow you to write off the entire cost of one of these against profits in the year of purchase.  (whereas you only get 8% writing down allowances on "cars")
