who has had BOTH Weitec GT cons + KW variant1 inox coilies?

Featured Replies

Right i realise there are LOADS of these type topics on here but in a dilema :(..

Im selling my airbags and converting to coilovers next month.

I am wanting a decent set + comfort is my priority.

I only really want to hear from people who have experience with BOTH Weitec GT cons AND KW variant 1 coilovers on the mk1 fabia/ ibiza/ 9n/9n3 polo so i can find out if the KWs are worth an extra £200 or not (comfort wise)..

Best price i can find is £444 for Weitec GT con and £645 for KW Variant 1 inox..

If there isnt a massive diference i will get the Weitecs as id like as much ££ as poss back from selling the bags.. but im NOT interested in any budgets or hard ride coilovers.. FK.. JOM.. VMAXX.. AP etc.. iv had cheap coilovers before + they are the main reason i bought bags because the ride quality was shocking :(

All help appreciated :)

They use the same springs its the dampers which are different. Sorry this doesn't help on the comfort front.

Dampers do make a lot of different to ride quality and how crashy the ride is

I would go for something designed for street use

P.s get them bags off so I can collect them :)

Comfort difference between the two is minimal.

Thanks faboka vrs :).. i knew they were both made by KW.. just hoping the Weitecs are almost as good so i can save abit more ££ :D..

My m8 has had KWs on his old mk3 ibiza cupra r and he rekoned they were too comfy lol.. said it rolled abit too much untill he fit a strut brace and rear ARB..

But i really need comfort so i can keep the fabia at least another year without the missus complaining about the ride quality :D

Text you pal

I've got both, currently running the Weitecs atm but switching to my KW's this evening.

The KW's give a smoother ride IMO and are less harsh, kinda more like a factory ride I feel due to the progressive springs that they have compared to the weitecs.

Now im undecided again :(..

Would u say the difference is worth £200?

Are the Weitecs good enough comfort wise for daily use with a moaning female lol?

Hopefully they go lower than ap's matt. You got more weight on the the rear so that should help you out.

Wietecs are the same progressive springs as are the AP's. only the clubsports which are linear.

Took a member out in my motor, running weitecs, to see how they felt. He totally forgot it was on coilovers after about 5 mins lol.

They are alot stiffer than a standard set-up but more than comfortable to live with as a daily.

I dont mind taking the adjuster out the back ;)

Do your fronts have any threads left?

Thanks for everyones input :)

If it was just up to me id get the Weitecs..

But the missus is fussy about ride quality and its making me want another car that looks good standard height lol..

If i can get away with coilovers ill keep my car for another year :).. im hoping Weitecs will be good enough.. if not ill have to push my budget to get KWs

Is anyone going to edition38 with either Weitecs or KWs?

Edited by mattvrestate

I have 6-8 threads left on the front and its gone clunky now. I have the adjusters out but still have the rubber part in wich will give another 10mm but thats it. Hopefully will be running 17s next year with a bit less poke but same width so should be able to get that last 10mm :D . Also not sure if the ap has a softer spring has i have a lot of movement on the rear.

Hopefully see you at edition, i will be up on the sat.

Where you find weitecs at that price for dude ?

That's a good price. Similar to when they first came out.

Sorry for the late reply just finished fitting the coilovers around 30mins ago

It's hard to say is it worth it as depends on what you feel is gonna suit yourself.I used to love my Red one on my KW's and the moment I bought the Black one with the Weitec's I noticed a increase in the harsh ride, some could of been down to the fact its running 17's and also lower than I had the KW's on the red motor.

Having just fitted them this evening, (again ride height slightly higher than before but not much) I can already notice a large difference, it rides over bumps smoother and doesn't seem to 'bottom out' kinda feeling when it hits a large pot hole, it more rides over it if you understand what I mean?

The girlfriend had commented on how bumpy a ride the car was so picking her up will be the biggest test of them, even just heading up her lane is back due to the pot holes/dips in the road so that will be the biggest test of it.

Cheers boy!

I await the moaning missus verdict ;)

Recently just bought some Weitec GT's and can't fault them.

Aren't the V1's now classed as GT's ?

Iv ended up buying AP's ;)

Not paying £600 for coilovers lol..

Old KW GTs are the new Weitec GTs

KW V1 are still V1 but i think they are all Inox now where as before it was an option
