Handbrake sticking

Featured Replies

Hi folks,

I have a 2004 VRS.

My handbrake began to stick giving excessive handbrake lever travel.

I looked at the in-car adjustment and sure enough the toggle was lop sided, showing that the o/s

was sticking.

After much WD40 on the caliper levers and adjustment in-car, the handbrake return

arm is free and returns to about 2mm from the stop, but the handbrake is still binding slightly (wheel doesn't rotate freely when jacked up and after driving the hub is warm).

Any ideas?

Had this recently, my drivers rear caliper had been replaced but my passanger handbrake started to stick. Bought some caliper return springs, only done the sticking side at the moment and its solved the problem. Although the return still doesnt go right to the stop its a couple of mm off it

Thanks for the replies.

I bought a caliper return spring but can't fit it 'cause this caliper has an anti mooing (squeal) kit fitted and I can't find the

part to replace this anti mooing device which would need to be removed. Does anyone know the name and part number

for this?
