Noticed this little arrow on your Yeti before?

Smart***ed cars again! Yet another thing that makes me feel inferior to my car.

Fred

My 'old Freelander has it as well!

never ever noticed that :D I need to check the Fabia now.

Thankfully the Yeti and the MX-5 has it so I always know which side the flap is.

But of course with modern fuel pumps at stations you can park at any pump and the pipe is long enough to reach either side of any car.

Speaking of fuel pumps; why in the UK do we not have the flip up thing that enables you to leave the nozzle untouched? It's there, but disabled.

There is an arrow on Scarlet, but not on my wife's MX5 (Mk2)

So why no pic of your yeti gauge? Couldn't be bothered to go and take a pic? :giggle:

And previous to putting the little arrow on the pump symbol, it used to be that the pipe/nozzle on the symbol was on the same side as the filler cap on the car.

Many years ago I refueled an MGB from the other side ,and scratched the top of the rear wing...

I've never made that mistake again. :wait:

Magnus is a Mk3 so has it.

Well I thought of this when I saw that video and didn't have the Yeti with me.

As to the pipe/nozzle on the side of the symbol: that was the case (for some cars) but that was even MORE subtle than this arrow so few people realised the significance. So this arrow is a bit better.

It's come up before, there is some regulation that does not allow it.

probably one of those 'elf n safety' regs they like to impose on us, as we're all fekkin idiots :wall:

I'd never noticed it on the Yeti. I also went on which side the nozzle was, as CFB mentioned, Hehe

Because the Law doesn't allow it! :giggle:

Actually because there is a risk of overfilling and spillage if the cut-out doesn't work.

And the rest of you are shockingly unobservant!!

In the bygone years when petrol stations were attendant service, the trigger locks were there.

If left in the filler, they would cut out, like today's pumps, when the fuel backed up the filler neck and flowed back into the nozzle

It was obviously before the nanny state came into existence.

Oh how I miss those days. :(

I can remember filling cars with the trigger lock as a kid (dad used to let me fill the car while he went in to get a paper and pay; I guess that's frowned upon these days too!).

The arrow thing has been in cars for years. And the pipe-on-the-correct-side thing has been dismissed as nothing more than coincidence by the likes of Snopes, after a big viral "WOW, MUST READ, FORWARD TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS!!!" type email did the rounds a few years ago.

It was obviously before the nanny state came into existence.

I'd have thought it less about the nanny state and more about the litigation state. People who do stupid things keep being told by adverts on the telly that they can cash in on their own mistakes.
