225/50/17 tyres

Featured Replies

Anyone know if these would be ok to put on the rears? Got some given me.

I may be wrong but I think I remember a thread on here which involved odd tyre sizes effecting the ABS ring.

As long as they're the same size as the fronts it should be fine!

If they're not though you will have an ABS light come on and also TC issues!

Someone with a bigger brain than me will be able to confirm though!

I wouldnt bother.

Iv got the normal 205/50/17 on at the moment so they would just be wider than the fronts.

They won't just be wider!

They'll be taller as well, which means the front wheels will spin faster than the rears....

Taller?  They are 17- 50's, same as the standard tyres as they are 17- 50's, these are just wider being 225's ;)

No i think your confused

Width being 205 or 225 is in millimeters, so yes 225 is 20mm wider than 205

BUT profile (50) isn't measured in millimeters

The 50 is a percentage, so 225/50the height is 50% of 225mm

And standard 205/50 the height is 50% of 205mm

So the tyre is not only wider but taller

225/45/17 would work however
