A 1978 Triumph Spitfire in remarkable condition. Only 38000 documented miles. Its virtually all original and very solid. Only used in summer months in recent years. Person selling is now looking for a Triumph Stag.

Is that a MK3? Always wanted a Spitfire or the GT6!

Its a Spitfire 1500. A mark IV, early ones has the 1300cc engine, which is probably the better engine.

Now have the Spitfire at home after a drive from South Wales to collect it.

Its huge fun to drive and turns heads due to noise it makes. Its been into a specialist for a check and he says its one of the best he has seen in a long while. Has been some welding done, but whoever it was has made an excellent job. Its not perfect, it needs a wheel bearing replacing and the carbs need a rebuild, but that's about all the mechanical work. Worst thing was the tyres. Despite having plenty of tread, the date codes say they are from as far back as 1992, so a new set required. The foam in the seats is also crumbling, but I leave that until I decide whar to replace them with. Leather would be nice but £££'s.

Looks lovely Andy - enjoy.

The low speed you can get the back out is loads of fun :)

What tyres are you going for?
