Albun art & playlists

Featured Replies

Hi

I am using a 64gb SDXC card for music. I copy my whole itunes library to it using Windows Explorer and then redo it when I have new music to add. I have 2 questions that hopefully someone can help with:

1. Is there a way to get the album art to work consistently? I have asked itunes to update, and it gets most of the artwork, but in the car only ocassional albums show the artwork, or sometimes one track on an album will show artwork, it may be the source of the albums. Newly bought itunes albums don't have artwork, but some older stuff that was ripped as mp3 or given to me on usb sticks does have art.

2. Is there a way to use itunes playlists through the SD card (rather than to BT an i-device)

I wondered whether backing up the itunes library through itunes might give a more complete library copy to address both issues, but I can't see an option to do that easily. I am not an apple expert so it may just be that I don't know where to look.

Cheers, NS

There are a couple of things to check with album artwork:

1. A couple of people have mentioned that iTunes now applies the artwork to the album rather than individual tracks. I guess it's Apple's continuing effort to stay individual by making themselves as incompatible with everything else in the world as possible.  :giggle:

2. I've found in the past that iTunes will sometimes save the artwork in the track as a .png file rather than a .jpg. Some units won't display .png files.

You can check both of these with an MP3 tag editor.

I use a nice little utility called iTunes Export which takes an iTunes playlist and turns it into an M3U playlist that the car understands.  It copies all the necessary music files and the playlist onto the removable media of your choice.  I have been using this for the last 4 years with podcasts on SD cards in the Audi, and now in the Oct3.

I am using v1.3.1 from 2007 and where the .exe file is 37kb!  Works perfectly.  Seems to have moved on to 2.2.2...

It now says " The user interface version requires Adobe AIR...".   If anyone wants the lightweight 1.3.1, PM me.

I tried the latest version of this, and it gave me the playlist and the music, but not the album art - does the album art work for you?
