Fabio pd 100 Estate-Radio, towbar, seat removal, tuning

Featured Replies

I have after a struggle, managed to extract the radio only to find that I have mislaid the front of the CD player I was about to fit!  I now have to refit the original radio except that........the front came off during the strugle to remove it and pulled out the the three connecting ribbons!  Is it possible to disassemble it so that I can re-insert the ribbon? Also there was a cassette stuck in it, so any tipe on removing and preventing it occuring again would be most welcome.

I am also about to fit a towbar, it cannot be a swanneck so that I can fit a motorcycle rack, but I am concerned about the parking sensors.  Can I disconnect the central sensors as the bike rack bracket will interfere as I still want the sensors if I can.

What splined bolts are used to remove the seat runners ?  I need to buy via the internet, but not sure of the correct size / type.

Finally I am thinking of a remap as my girlfriends Panda was transformed after hers was remapped.  There are so many comments on here but am struggling for real facts. what I am after is a staged order of things to change and the expected gains.

I live in South Wales and thinking of using AB in Barry does anyone have any experiance of them or another in S Wales tuning this engine

Thank you for your help

Nigel

There is every chance the ribbons on the radio can be reconnected......assuming you can take it apart easily, but I've never tried it.

I'm not sure if you can disconnect the middle 2 sensors and still have functioning outer sensors. I'd try it and see what happens.....It's possible the whole system will be disabled by doing this but who knows. I do know if you install factory electric sockets, the reverse sensors are automatically inhibited when you have a trailer plugged in.......but this is no use when using a bike rack.

The seat runner bolts are definitely M spline......I think M10, but I could be wrong there.

As for mapping, I only have experience of (decent) tuning boxes. You'll easily get 125-130bhp from a PD100 with a box or stage 1 map, which is enough for most.....Certainly enough for me.....I struggle for traction bad enough with my PD100 without a map! If you want to go further, well that is only limited by the depth of your pockets......add a PD150 turbo, intake, injectors and map it to 180bhp. I think there are examples of 1.9PD engines producing well over 200bhp.

The cassette player's probably bust. Unless you need the cassette, throw it in the bin or take it recycling. A reasonable CD-tuner or mechless player costs £50 or less.

Regarding the reversing sensors, um.... I'd guess they can be re-positioned but that would leave you with little holes. Guess you'd have to get blanking grommets. Or buy ANOther sensor kit off eBay etc. They're not expensive, and come with either three or four sensors...
