Anyone know of a DAB Headunit to replace the Stream?

Featured Replies

Afternoon all,

I've been reading a thread with interest from DMilleaVRS regarding a headunit to replace the OEM one, that is all-singing, all-dancing and integrates seamlessly with CANBUS and therefore retains all the features of the basic unit purchased with the car.

I suddenly found myself contemplating doing exactly the same thing (I have a Pre FL '57 Mk2 OCtavia) but with one crucial difference...

Currently I have a single DIN JVC unit that I took out of my Fabia when I gave it to my Mum, which has DAB. As far as I'm concerned, this is absolutely vital to the operation because I'm doing around 20K a year all over the country and will generally only listen to Radio 4 Extra or 6Music now. So here's the big question:

Has anyone found a unit (OEM or 'Slightly-less-than-OEM') that will retain all of the useful features like PDC and Climate, but has DAB, Bluetooth and doesn't cost the absolute earth? (By that I mean sub £400!)

I have absolutely no interest in Sat Nav whatsoever so it doesn't have to come with this, or be particularly good at this aspect if it does have it, just so long as I can use it to make phone calls, stream music from the phone (via Bluetooth, USB or mini-jack) and still listen to Radcliffe & Maconie instead of the insufferable Steve Wright.

Hi Rob, did you get anywhere with this?

Im looking doing at a similar thing in my Octavia, thinking about SatNav also though...in for a penny and all that...

The newer RNS 315 is DAB and Bluetooth, ebay just check the photos and look for an extra Ariel socket in the top left corner, you will also need another facia surround
