Rear window washer leaks when boot is open

Featured Replies

Hi

Just wanted to check if this is happening to anyone else, when I open the rear door, I notice that there is a stream of water slowly leaking down the window from the wiper (which has the washer built in).

It doesn't always happen, but it's annoying, because I'm slowly loosing window washing fluid every time I open the rear door. Basically, I open the boot, by the time I put everything in, the water has leaked across the whole window and when I close it, it rolls back leaving a streak mark.

I can't figure out why it's happening sometimes and sometimes it doesn't leak.

Humm it never happened to me, even with the water tank filled up. Maybe you should check it, maybe its punctured, or something, somewhere.

Same here. Sometimes I find a few drops of liquid. I don't mind. The law of gravity takes place.

Sounds disturbing, I will check this and post an answer.

In the meanwhile I recommend you go to the dealer and show them the leak, should replace the wiper/washer

Mine does this as well.  Annoying but I will wait to see if others get it cured befo9re i go to a dealer.

Well, if it's a matter of gravity and this happening to others, I guess there isn't much that can be done.

I'll be out of the country for a month, so I'll go to the dealer when I get back.

The reason I noticed it was that it wasn't a few drops of water, but quite a bit and it was happening on a hot sunny day without a cloud in the sky, so I was thinking where is this water coming from. I owned some other hatchbacks prior to the Rapid and I haven't seen this occur on other cars.

Have you used the rear wash prior to it 'leaking' when you open the boot? I'm wondering if the jets are badly adjusted and spraying water inside the plastic housing of the wiper and thus it's running out once you lift the boot?

My rear jets are certainly badly adjusted and I still need to sort it out, although I've not had the problem described in this thread.

Yes, mine does this.

Even though I've never actually used the wash function on the rear window.

Since a lot of owners seem to have this, i believe u guys should report it to a skoda dealer, so that it reaches skoda hq and they give a tsb for this
