Phase 1 of my 312mm Brake conversion is complete -

All stripped down, de-greased and nicely masked up.

Proceeded to phase 2 - a coat of Hammerite Special Metal Primer.

All being well Phase 3 - A good coat of Smooth Green will be tomorrow

Looking good!

I'm hoping to do this when I get my brakes (hopefully arrive next week sometime) and as I know nothing about brakes a few questions:

a) Is there any other areas that need masking off other than the 3 you can see in your pics?

B) is that sprayed on, or painted? looks well smooth.

Top job, can't wait to see the green!

Mask any machined areas, the bleed nipple and the piston. Some of mine is masked with Aluminium tape so it's not so easy to see at first sight.

It was hand painted.

A little taster. Done with a brush though, and this was after only one coat, no other prep except a good wipe down. :)

Has anyone noticed the Hammermite green doesnt to be the same colour as the Skoda green despite numerous people saying it's a near perfect match.

I am only going by the pictures I have seen of the Hammermite paint but it certainly looks dull in comparison with the Skoda green.

Hope im wrong :o

Nice work so far man ...a personal opinion though...with the whole 'being different' thing you have going, you should have painted your calipers a nice bright red.

It is slightly lighter I think. Looking at what I've seen though not a bad match and you have to take into account that it is a highly durable paint that can be applied to less than perfect surfaces so it makes it very useful for this type of application.

Behind the wheels I can't imagine it making too much difference.

Whay would you want to paint the calipers red when Skoda Motorsport is green?? Brembo's then yes maybe. Half the nation has red calipers, I want to keep my car looking as near standard as possible with careful use of subtle mods not Ch@v it up like a nasty nova.

How about pink?

I think the green is slightly lighter but under they rims the get grimey, as well as the rear calipers, so they look perfect :D
