Well, I finally did it! After much thought and having the benefit of the combined wisdom and experience of this forum, we acquired a 6,500 11 month old Elegance 140 TDI DSG.  We were going to go for a new built to order but decided not to wait when we found a fully loaded example in the rare colour combo of Brunello Rosso with black roof.  I (and my wife; it's her car) really like the character of the current model so not that worried about the FL.  Anyway, a big thank you to everyone for sharing their knowledge and ownership experience. Some quick iphone photo's of the beast.

Thanks for the welcome. Re the colour, i've seen one or two in brunello rosso (in Europe though) but never with the black roof. Being CZ spec, its also got the aux heater - great idea, just press the RC from up to 600m away 10 mins before setting off and engine preheated/ cabin chilled to the set AC temperature. Composure through the bends very impressive for a cross over, hats off to Škoda. R, Peter
