dash cleaning

Featured Replies

just acquired a "new" motor and the inside is a bit grubby.

dash is solid plastic - was wondering how i could clean it up? i have a steam cleaner which i'm sure would lift the muck in seconds but would it perhaps cause some damage, e.g. melt the plastic or something?

also, wouldn't mind getting the seats cleaned - could i shampoo these using the likes of a vax?

cheers

I use a foaming upholstery cleaner (like Decosol's Instant Valay) with a washing-up brush to get into the texture of the plastic. Don't spray it into the innards of the stereo!

Aha! Someone speaking of experience!

Try and do it without the steam cleaner if you can, as mentioned use a dry foam cleaner, A/G upholstery spray can, or AutoSmart Brisk, Tuff Stuff or simuilar.

What ever you do don't spray it with anything that contains silicones, unless you want that street corner car sales plot shiny look....

Just let it dry after cleaning it and it should retain the matte look.

Couldn't agree with you more John, nothing worse than a shiny dash... :thumbdwn:
