I've converted HWMBO!

Still, look on the bright side, Ford are saving money :dull:

It may not be so clear cut.

According to the area sales guy they asked to go 24 hours at the site to make it more cost effective.

Apparently Southampton Council would not remove the 8am-8pm restriction.

There was a known weakness in sub frame bushes. I had my cars bushes upgraded with Bosch parts when I bought it. Perhaps your car had failed bushes?

They were fine

I recall you mentioning that in another thread, Richard. I did some digging but couldn't find anything to support that on the SCC website. Maybe I used the wrong search criteria but I'll ask the missus, she like using the tinternet to search for planning applications!

I don't believe everything I am told, but there are usually two sides to every story. :)

Three I thought :) Either way, it's a great site for some small British business to expand into. I hope it continues to produce a vehicle of some kind.

He likes Ford and looks down his nose at VAG products? Grounds for divorce!!

The Ford will still handle better than anything Skoda make though ;)

And last only a third as long

I do love the blinkers you get on a Skoda forum...

Blinkers or experience? I don't base my opinion on hearsay you know. Ford are some of the shoddiest motors on the road, how many T-reg Focus and Fiestas are left on the road given the amount that were sold? As for the dealers, i'd rather slam my John Thomas in the door.

Converting from Ford is pretty easy to be honest.

Over priced uninspiring rubbish

Don't hold back :p

Yea! say what you mean, get it off your chest why don't you? Lol.

Well, everyone has different experience, but I do see a hell of lot of "Skoda are better than X" on this forum, and people looking down their noses at other marques. I mean, not even low-end budget marques like Kia, people seem to have a real issue with mainstream stuff like Ford and Vauxhall. These days you have to travel far to buy a bad car and it wasn't that long ago that Skoda was uttered in the same breath as Lada...

Ok, I get that some people don't like certain marques, and that's fine - I'm not overly fond of French cars. But I've had some Fords and some Vauxhalls and I've not really had any issues. The last Ford I had was a X-reg TDDI Focus estate that lived a far from cherished life, but it was a perfectly adequate mode of transport, and as I'd alluded to before, handled better than most standard VAG cars I've driven of a similar age!

I will agree with you on the dealers, though. I dread going anywhere near the Ford dealers near me!

Perhaps the response was harsh but your post in response to me was a trifle glib. My experience is that Ford and the people that hawk them are garbage. Perhaps unlucky but wasted far too much money to even find out.

My Skoda dealer was also my Ford dealer.  The service for Ford was just as good as for Skoda (and Hyundai, the other make I have bought from him).

Of the different makes I have driven I would rank as follows based on a combination of how reliable the cars were, how nice to drive and how good the after sales service was:

1. Ford (4 cars)

2. Skoda (5 cars)

3. Hyundai (2 cars)

4. Renault (1 car)

5. Lada (3 cars)

6. Vauxhall (1 car)

Of these the Vauxhall was by far the least reliable and had by far the worst dealer.
