Octavia VRS Hatch DSG Ordered

Featured Replies

Just part-x my 2011 Fabia vrs for a new Octavia VRS TSI Hatch DSG in white. We considered various optional extras but limited only to the black pack... Now the dreadful wait for delivery. This will join our other car a 2013 Focus ST Estate... Should be interesting to see how they compare, I'm expecting the Focus to be a more sporty drive, with the Octavia being more relaxed... Obviously the focus is manual. I ordered the DSG for the wife... Terry

Just out of interest how long were you given for delivery? I'm awaiting a VRS TDI hatch in race blue

dealer quoted normal lead times 3 months...although I'm not confident that is anywhere near accurate based on information from other sources.... time will tell!

Same here. Everybody on here is saying demonstrators are being built from November then customer orders. I'm thinking January

I am hopeful I will do an order for a hatch, but will do it probably end of September for the 0% but will request delivery for 1st March for a 14 plate, if the early hatch orders are going to be January time, then it seems sesnible to hold on a few weeks and get it for March 1st, will have a better sell on value in a few years time, OK, might not make much difference, but every few quid counts, and if you are waiting that long then worth waiting a bit longer.

Well I ordered my TSI DSG hatch 3 weeks ago and was told there's a remote chance I'll get it just before Christmas but that the safe estimate is first half of January

After a 2 hour conversation about cars with the wife last night we've come to the conclusion that in reality the octavia is too big for our needs.

So sat in the dealer now waiting to deliver the bad news to the salesman. Then we're off to our local VW dealer to have a look at a Golf Gti

You might regret not having the load lugging capability of the Octavia.

Whilst the GTi is a truly excellent car, it lives on it's badge & name. Also you may find yourself shocked on how expensive it is especially when you start putting bits on, I configured one to the same spec as an Octavia and it came to ~£31k!  :o

If it was me, I'd go to the VW garage first, THEN decide on cancelling the Octavia or not.

In any case, the GTI is a fine motor if you truly don't need the space.

If it were me I'd look at the Leon FR. Brilliant offer on at the moment too. You've really got to justify the extra four odd thousand for a Golf.

You're absolutely right folks, although I only ordered the octavia because it was a VAG hot hatch within budget and with exactly the engine I want, but I really truly don't need anything so big.

Me and the wife had a Fabia VRS which was big enough for our needs it just had a bone shaking ride. After driving the golf I have to say its a great car. Wouldn't say it's better than the octavia but it does feel more up market inside.

Also had a look at a Leon FR today and while it drove reasonably well it felt just as cheap, the buttons in the centre console felt flimsy and the materials used were well below par for other cars in its class. I've already managed to wangle the golf I want with the same spec at the same price I was given for the octavia so money wise it's no different.

The wife really doesn't care which one we have so long as it has a DSG. I'm now leaning even more towards the golf

GTD for vRS MONEY?

I looked at the Golf, but was put off by the attitude of staff in the dealership near me. What a stuck up lot they were. All  glitz and a posh showroom with overly made up receptionist , but no idea about customer service.

Initially I only wanted to just sit in one to confirm that the seats were comfortable enough with a neck issue I have, but the salesman was rushing me and my wife around and treating us as a nuisance, rather than a customer. I just couldn't consider an ownership experience that started like that. I could only imagine how they would be if you had any problems.

I hope your dealership is much better than that. nice car though. ;)

Last time i went to VW was looking to strike a deal on a MK6 Golf 1.4 TSi Match 5 door for the wife (before we bought our now departed Fabia vRS estate).

Sales guy was pleasant enough but not prepared to offer any discount on the car (given it was quite a mature model at that point) and sonewhat started to insinuate that I couldnt really afford a new one and got steered towards nearly new ex rental poverty spec Golf S TDi's. Now theres a big difference between what I can afford and what im prepared to spend and it got right up my nose....I didnt want a bloody Golf S, particularly an ex rental.

that I turned up in my own (admittedly company) Mk6 2.0 TDi GT 5 door made no impression on him either.

Needless to say we didnt buy a Golf; but in fairness my Skoda dealer is part of the same group and are more accomodating; had my 2nd from them now.

I looked at the Golf GTD DSG, nice car and great discounts on it at the moment, so its a good contender price wise, it has loads of toys already loaded on it, and I was seriously considering it, but the boot for us was just too small, not that we need Octavia size, its just that with an Octavia you have that flexibility if you want it, however, the GTD is still a great car, the one I wanted was standard GTD DSG with heated seats, list was around £28.5K I think from memory, dealer would do for £25K so yes its vRS money, but being on finance the 0% makes a difference, but the GTD gains in teh better residual value, so the monthly payments work about teh same so what you pay in interest (or partially at least) on the GTD you get back in the residual value, what you save on the vRS with 0% you lose on the slightly lower residual, so there isnt a great deal in it, also worth noting VW will do 48 month PCP if that helps with monthly budgeting.

Dealer did say its 6 month minimum wait for them, and highly unlikely it would come through any sooner.

My pain in the arse wife and I we're sat in the VW dealer about to sign the paperwork for an order for a golf when she turned to me and said 'you know what, I don't really care that the octavia is big, I much prefer it to the golf'

I apologised for wasting the sales persons time and we will be going back to Skoda with the hope that the car we ordered hasn't been allocated to anyone else yet. We hadn't given written cancelation of the order so with luck it'll still be available.

She drives me mad I have to be fair lol
