Cars that aren't as cheap as they appear to be.

Featured Replies

I was just looking at the new Honda 1.6d CRV that starts from £22,800 (apparently) only to discover you can't get it in a non metallic paint  (on the configurator) so that's an extra £500.  Seems a bit misleading.

I have come across this before with a Toyota that could only be purchased with extra cost metallic paint.

Might count as false advertising if you're in the mood for causing trouble.

I've noticed this on a lot of the new cars around, I think this is pretty standard across the market :(

Ring up your local Honda dealer and ask to buy a Civic for their advertised starting price of £22,800.

Then ask them what colours they have available for £22,800.

At which point you discover that they have several metallics for immediate delivery or 1 to 4 weeks, or you can get "death white" but only as a "special order" with 6 months wait.
