Swapped my 17" for 18" wheels and not noticed much difference in comfort levels between the two...do look good on the car though

I have the 17's on my Superb SE and considered doing what you've done.

Four things are putting me off...

1) I quite like the look of the 17's although they do look a little small on the Superb.

2) The 18" Thermisto's are polished and corrode.

3) 18" tyres seem quite a bit more expensive.

4) Ride comfort reduced.

At least number four can be ruled out.

Where'd you get the Thermisto's from? Are you selling the 17's?

17" wheels are already spoken for

I have polished and sealed the new wheels with Gtechniq C5 so hopefully they will be Ok, and I am hoping that as these are wheels and tyres that have only done 25 miles...they may just just last until I sell the car in two and a half years time....or I may only have to buy two new ones.

I have a theory about the ride quality ...I think it's down to the make of tyres...my old ones where Pirelli and were noisy and a bit too soft in the side wall...the new ones are Continental and are a lot quieter....but seem to have better turn in (may be the smaller tyre wall doing that though)... bought the New ones from a member on here who has gone the 16" route.....met him to pick up the wheels and he has a Superb combi...in exactly the same colour as mine...not seen another one till now

Looking nice, have you put the new centre caps on?

Good find. Brand new Thermisto's with brand new tyres are as rare as it gets!

My 17's have the factory fit Pirelli's on too, I was looking for a second set for winters as I don't want steels / plastic trims, but nevermind :giggle:

My main reason in getting the Superb was coming from an Octavia vRS the ride was just too hard for my 140 mile commute, but I guess this was as much to do with the suspension as the 18" alloys, hence why the Superb probably rides much better on them.

The wheels came with the new style centre caps (still had the blue plastic protection on them).....I tried them on the car to see what they looked like, and I quite like the look of them so they can stay

I like both sets of wheels - car's handsome too!  B)

Gaz

They look great! Any better pictures?

Sounds/looks like a great result !
