So much bitching...

I just spotted the link to the Audi S1 Spy Pictures.

It will be interesting to see if there is going to be one, which engine & even though a different sort of price,

might this be why the VW CEO has been reported as saying no Mk 3 vRS.

ie no Cheaper performance option to VW/Audi in the same size class.

Auto Express (shudders inside)...I couldn't bring myself to read it any more about 5 years ago.

Every picture in it seemed to be "our artist's representation of what it will look like" - in aother words, made up.

As for the S1 - wouldn't it be a Quattro, probably 250bhp+ and therefore better than any Polo GTi, Ibiza Cupra or potential Fabia vRS?

I guess it depends on the board - if they want to market the Fabia as a sensible family car, they may not want to have a sports version.  They may see the Octavia vRS alone as ticking that box for the brand.

Given how many Mk2 vRS I see, they must be reasonably popular and perhaps open up the Fabia to a different demographic - perhaps one that wouldn't buy a Skoda, but wouldn't necessarily buy a VW or Audi instead.  Say a Fabia vRS over a Yaris or something.

"our exclusive images show how it could look" - created by guessing that Skoda will tag on the current corporate look from the latest FL cars. No sh!t Sherlock.

Off thread, but I stopped reading Evo last year.

I believe they became part of the group that owns Auto Express and their magazine stoped being good and started being:

"SCOOP - a crappy computer image of what a car won't look like!".

Nice.
