R32 farb

Featured Replies

Before i grab my r32 farb from vw

What else do i need to fit it ?

I have the super pro 23mm farb bushes

Just thought id check as awesome lost these for £150

But they do say about bushes and bracket things of sorts ?

Or do u just use the vrs stuff and bushes with the bigger holes ?

Not sure about the Octy Lloyd but I have fitted an R32 FARB to my Golf 4 Motion and I had to shorten the drop links by 1" the original links were too long and arb sat on the bottom wishbone. Might be something to beware of.

Other than that it was a simple job, steering rack unbolted, sub frame un bolted so everything moves around and slide the bar out under the steering rack (obviously undo the drop links first) then slip the new one in, up with the frame not forgetting to line up the rack bolt holes.

So the farb mount clip U shape things will be used of the octy

Octy doesnt have drop links :)

New subframe bolts again then damit lol

U shaped clip on the Golf was the same clip as used on the removed bar, however I believe there are two of these, one with a groove in it and one without, the Eibach bushes had the groove on them and fit snug in the clamp, I used slightly longer bolts to make it easier to pull them up tight.

On the Octy, does your currant arb go under or over the driveshaft?  I know the R32 bar will go under the driveshaft, hence the drop link off the back of the front strut.

I have not changed any subframe bolts, stretch bolts my eyeball!   Get them out, put them back in, same for the steering rack.

Octy goes under i think bud as the vrs farb is used on mk4s to solve the knock

+1 for re-using the bolts!

The u shaped brackets can be a pain to get back in with bigger bushes!

Thats why I used longer bolts, in fact they were bolts that fit in the rear callipers when the pads are changed.

Ah so is that what awesome are selling then

The U brackets also from a r32 ?

Must be a reason why they are £150 not sub £100 from vw and tps

U brackets are the same as on a 4 motion, just they have a rib bent into them to strengthen them up a bit, I really can't see what is in them to make them so expensive, just check yours out as they may be grooved also.

Here is what you should be looking at, old and new.

Awesome supply these and r32 farb £150

But bar is just under 100 from vw

Just checking theres nothing else i'll need

I bought Eibach, you get the bar and the bushes, so you have to re use the clamps off the car

Yeah i looked at them but not cheap

I believe your 4motion is the same as std Golfs for ARB set up and different to Golf R32, although could be wrong but sounds like it is,  if you have clearance issues with drop links.

The VRS is same set up as Audi TT/S3 Golf R32 and Seat LCR with the drop links from ARB to strut. There is no clearance issue what so ever with fitting the Golf R32 FARB, I have fitted loads..

So the farb mount clip U shape things will be used of the octy

Yep Lloyd buddy use your original U clamp as it is the grove type.

When I did mine i replaced the clamps from TPS just coz I am fussy and wanted new

New subframe bolts again then damit lol

Yes mate as they are Stretch bolts and should really only be used once , and for the price they are why not..

VRS Octy is same as Golf R32 , under drive shaft so lot's of clearance

Sorry but they are stretch bolts dude and should only be used once, in theory and false economy not to replace. Lloyds car is like new so no expense spared on his low miler   .

Correct buddy

+1 for re-using the bolts!

-1 for re-using same bolts

ARB bolts yes, subframe bolts no.

Fitting poly bushes on the R32 is a pain but using a longer bolt to screw up first is good tip then remove and fit std bolt and easy job then.

VRS are grooved brackets.

Lloyd here is all the P/N I used when I did mine. No reason why you could not have a go yourself buddy.

Here are the part numbers:

1J0411305E - R32 FARB

1J0411336D - FARB Bush Mounting bracket x 2(your may be ok but i replaced for new anyway)

N10101603 - FARB Bush Mounting bracket bolt x 2 (as above)

N90752801 - Subframe Rear Bolt x 2 (stretch bolts so should be replaced)

N90734902 - Subframe Front Bolt x 2(replaces old P/N N90734901) (stretch bolts so should be replaced)

Also you will need to take out the dogbone mount Bolts on gearbox to allow Subframe to lower enough. These are not stretch bolts but recommend using thread lock if not replacing them.

N90597005 - Dogbone mount to gearbox x 1(replaces old p/n N90597002)

N10246610 - Dogbone mount to gearbox x 1(replaces old p/n N10246604)

Lastly again although these are not stretch bolts,  you may consider replacing as they are 93 pence each.

N10015507 - steering rack bolts x 4(replaces old p/n N10015506)

hope this helps

P.S I have some pics somewhere of the job, can post those to.

Cool mark tah :)

I have dogbone bushes in my super pro box :)

I shall do my shopping list and mark has awesomely offered to sort it :)

Just have to collect up some shizal lol

4 motion ARB is the same as std golf... No, it is the same as Octy and R32, the arb I replaced also went under the driveshaft.

I Your choice Lloyd with the "stretch" bolts  :wonder:

Golf ARB clamps are also grooved on later models as mine is, I posted pictures to show both.

Thanks for the advice Bowders1

Sod it i'll replace the lot, as knowing my cars idea he will decide the reject his subframe at speed or something

Mines been fine on the original bolts...if anybody replaces them it's entirely up to them!

Let me know when you got the bits Lloyd and we'll get them on!
