fitting a subwoofer to a skoda fabia 1.2 2004

Featured Replies

I have a skoda fabia 1.2 2004 , and just brought a new subwoofer with the amp attached to it, ive also just brought a whole new wiring kit, I want to know how to install it all, and wheres the grounding point?

thanks :)

Ground it in the boot somewhere under a nut,or possibly where rear seats bolt in. . Just make sure where its grounded you sand the paint of to get a proper conection.

you will need an after market headunit with proper rca outputs too.

if you have a long enough earth lead, there is a tail light earth point behind the boot side liner. I know there is defiantly one on the passenger side buy im not sure about the drivers side of the car.

nice one lads, Im new to all this , will the subwoofer not work if its not grounded. bcus I can faintly see the power light flicker, but no sound comes out, im guessin theres not enough power??

If its not grounded it wont work no. . .it needs to be a GOOD earth connection. . .mine once just stopped working and it was down to a bad earth.

depending on the power of the amplifier you will need a different size earth cable. IF you use a cable which is too thin it will also get hot, almost acting as a resistor( or even as a fuse if you use a small enough cable) but it will cause the insulation to get hot and could cause a fire.

So make sure you have a high current cable. Most places like halfords will quote how much power a amplifier power cable kit can handle. Just make sure that your amplifiers rated power is less than the rated power of the cable.

I had one in my pug. I used the rear seat belt bolt for ground.

You don't need an after market radio, as someone stated above, either.
