remapped pd v remapped pd

Featured Replies

As the title says which would be quickest between the fabia and Octavia vrs both when mapped?

Octavia.

Octavia

Octavia by a fair way. remapped furby would still struggle slightly against a stock octy

Octavia all day long.

Even my standard PD140 DSG would probably have a Fabia vRS on a 0-60 sprint, owing to the instant gear changes of the DSG.

I've got a remapped Fabia and before I sold my standard MK 1 Octavia 1.8T, my Bird and I did a drag race and up to 85ish they were dead level. After that the Octavia pulled away. Not a pd I know, but helps with the point that a remapped Fabia aint the quickestthing in the world

(Test conducted on an airfield of course. Benefits of being involved in motorsports :D)

The title says pd though, I mean a remapped diesel pd Octavia vrs

Octavia. Remember fabia's got the aero dynamics of a yeti, sorry brick :) when the speed rises.

Yes we know. But niceyellow vrs's experiment settles it. A MK1 1.8T Octavia happens to have exactly the same 0-60 mph time as a PD Octavia vRS.

So even a stock PD vRS Octavia is going to be quicker than a mapped Fabia vRS. A mapped Octavia would leave it for dust.......on an airfield of course.

I had a play in my leon fr tdi (198bhp) against my mates scirocco 170 standard and low down it pulled away - brought it back up the rev range but if he was mapped he would have smoked me

Are we talking about a mk2 diesel VRS against a mk1 fabia vrs? If so im not sure why the 1.8 petrol mk1 is been chucked in?

Sent from my iPhone 4s

Fabia. The Octavia will sit there with DPF issues & limp mode etc. :D

I'll have you know my remapped Yeti is quicker than a remapped Fabia. :peek:

So Octy all day, as it's lighter than my Yeti with a similar power output and less drag.

Lol

... diesel pd Octavia vrs

I thought the mk2 VRS diesel was a CR engine not a PD?

It's surely also a pretty obvious result anyway?

130bhp remapped to 170ish bhp

versus

170bhp remapped to 200ish bhp

mk2 VRS Octy was PD then CR Pasty.

They changed it part way through.

what would be needed is the bhp/ton figures.

Thing is, the mk1 VRS is frigging heavy for a small car at 1300kg kerbweight.

The Octy won't be THAT much heavier, but with 15-20% more power.

mk2 VRS Octy was PD then CR Pasty.

They changed it part way through.

I did not know this.

I guess the PD still made 170bhp though i guess so guess the numbers would still be the same?

That said there are so many factors to contribute to which is "faster" that the thread is largely pointless.

I mean nobody would have thought Hayden's Rover 214 would have been quicker around Bedford than a whole host of Fabias and Octavias but it was! ;)

Yes, I think the mk2 came out around 2006 and the CR around 2008.

The last of the PD engines got saddled with DPFs on the mk2, which they were never designed for, which is why the CR suffers a lot less issues as they are designed for it and burn cleaner.

That's the only reason I know. :)

I'm assuming he means straight line blasts like entering motorways of slip roads. You know the boring stuff :)

Standard Fabia vRS - 98.8bhp/tonne

Standard Octavia vRS - 113.3bhp/tonne

Whichever way you slice it, the Octavia's faster......even in the corners.

Ive never driven a remapped PD Octy RS so dont know how quick it is but my old Mk1 PD Fab RS was mapped to 184hp and 380lbs and 0-60 was kack due to the wheel spin but say from 30 -70 it would embarass a lot of cars including a boxster driver who couldnt believe it was aSkoda then nearly had a fit when i told him it was a diesel!! :)    Whether it would be quicker than a remapped Octy i dont know!!

kit :)

It's all irrelevant if the Fabia is too small for your needs . . . .
