TV Tuner on Skoda

Featured Replies

Hi everybody ... I'm new on this forum, but an ol' fan of Skoda. I even use Skoda military equipment durring military service :))

So, few years ago I bought my first Skoda. Octavia Combi 4x4. When I first saw her, I was telling myself just like in Casablanca "I think this is a beginning of a beautiful friendship". And so it was.

But, few month ago I made an upgrade (at least I think so) and I buy a Skoda Superb 2.5TDI AG. It's a wonder!! Really.

I'd like to share my experiences with all the Skoda fans.

So, long live the Skoda!

Hello!!! Welcome on board!

Where does the TV Tuner come into it though?!

Hello golfturbo!

Actually I want to post a thread regarding TV tuner that the Skoda put on some models, but eventually turned out into a welcome message! Sorry for inconvenience.

So the real question is: does anyone plays with the tv tuner? how it's wired? etc.

In fact I want to adapt a PC TV tuner to the car. ANY ideas? ;;)

welcome to Briskoda backseat.

Welcome backseat - where r u from?

Hi andy,

I'm from Iasi, Romania. You know, one of those country that get rid of the commies

Hi Backseat and welcome.

In the UK Skoda dont fit the TV tuner to any of thier model range, its reserved for Audi only, used to be standard fit in the S4 upwards when the sat nav headunit option was chosen, then it went to a cost option on its own.

HI Lummox,

Actually I bought my Skoda Superb from a leasing company, so it is a second hand car, but in a exceptional condition. It has al the features you wanted to check on the configurators, but your pocket just don't support it. Navigation, Leather, xenon, etc. So, under the 6-CD changer there's a place which I think accomodates the TV tuner. The TV tuner is on the option list for Superb, but the price ... hmmm .. you don't want to know it. So, it comes to my mind: what if I can put my own TV tuner?? Can be a very-very cheap alternative to the manufacturer's item. Is anyone messed with the wires, TV tuner etc? Could be a big help this experience.

:D

The place under the CD changer accomodates the SAT NAV1 unit when that was specced.

Probably, but in my car there's an empty place, altough I do have the SAT NAV system.

Do you have the double din headunit and screen?

Do you have the double din headunit and screen?

Sorry Lummox,

I'm not quite sure that I understood your question. I have the screen, of course (didn't I mentioned that I have de SAT NAV system?), probably all the rest. In fact, I think that there's gotta be an outlet, something, whre the original TV Tuner connects to. So, my plan is that if I find the pinout for that outlet, I might be able to accomodate some TV tuner :)

Am I crazy?

Why you didnt understand my question is that there were two sat nav systems fitted to VAG vehicles. SatNav1 doesnt have a screen and uses the dot matrix screen in the dash to display directions only. SatNav2 has the double din headunit with the screen. Its on SatNav1 that the space under the changer is occupied with the SatNav unit as in Satnav2 its built into the headunit.

The TV tuner isnt an option on the Superb. The Skoda headunit doesnt have the AV input on the back like the earlier Audi units. The TV tuner box incedentally sits above the glovebox next to the signal booster.

Obviously you're better informed than I am ...

After your description I have the SatNav2, because I have a big LCD screen in the middle of dashboard, other than the dot mattrix screen. I can actually see streets, not just the directions. I must disagree with you regarding the tv tuner as an option for Superb ...

Please check

http://www.aviamotors.ro/?cale=templates/configurator/configurator.php&menu=34

and select Superb/Elegance/2.5TDI/Automatic/ and after several 'Continua' (that's Next :D ) you can actually see QV1 option, at an superexpensive price of 1238Euro!!! Which can explain my problem in adapting other TV tuner :)

What I said is in the UK they dont fit the TV tuner to the Superb. I may wel be fitted in other countries but will use a slightly different headunit.

The UK options list for the superb is...

Acoustic parking sensors

You're right :(

Prolly on the continent they have more options. If you have the curiosity to play with the website I told you about, you'll see the complet list of option and their prices. CIP is without any taxes, and DDP is Duty Delivered Paid (all the taxes included).

Anyway, I'll check with my Skoda dealer (I have some very good friends there) and if I came to an answer/solution I'll post it here.

Btw: nice pick-up! Me and my colleagues really like it. We also have a Skoda Pickup in the company, but not as fancy as yours ;)

Cheers Mate :)

Its going to look a fair bit different soon :)
