Removing wing mirror covers

Featured Replies

I have searched on here but I still can't remove them, it says I need to undo 2 torx screws which Im not sure which ones they are so removed all I could see and it still won't come off. I need them off to get them wrapped.

Could anyone explain how to get it off or a picture?

thanks, alex.

Sounds like an easy job, but it isn't!

The two torx screws are under the wing mirror and hold it in place, both quite small.

You will need to remove the mirror glass which is also a challenge in itself as well.

Cheers, removed them both but managed to crack the glass on one side so that's another thing to buy :wall:

Would you be able to show the steps on removing the trim via some pictures??

I cracked both my mirrors first time but here is how you do it...

Make your mirror glass angle so they look at the floor all the way down then in towards the car, you can then see how the glass unclips from the circular frame inside.

Then there are 2 or 3 torx head screws inside there, you only need to take the ones out that go into a grey bracket as far as I can remember, you can take out every one you see but then your taking off the mirror motor (if it's electric), you don't need to take your motor / black box off.

Then you can slide the mirror cap upwards, you are best to use a flat headed screwdriver to pry the cap up off the silver palted lugs inside, you can't miss them.

You have to take at least 3 torx head screws out otherwise you start snapping lugs that keep your cap on.

It is an easy job, once you know how....

I have no photos of this, just memory but I will be taking them off again next month for a re paint and lots of lacquer :)

Hope that helps.

P.s. I just got replacement stick on Fabia MK1 mirror glass from halfords, cost me about £15 in total but at the time was easier and quicker than getting ones off ebay, same price though. I was in a rush.
