heated windscreen

Featured Replies

Can anybody tell me if heated windscreen can be retro fit Jasmine was missed on the yeti build witch was this week and monster already built

I remeber an inconclusive discussion here, I think that while anything is possible it would be expensive -the control for it is an additional button on the climatronic so a new unit may be involved. Not a regular dealer fit option I'm afraid.

Anything is possible, just depends on how big/deep the wallet is. :giggle:

Dealer is trying to find out if it is possible but if an expensive fix I won't hold my breath

Forget to say heated screen ordered dealer forgot to tick box for heated screen

I'd hazard a guess at £1k+ ?

Take £500 off the dealer for his error?

If it matters enough to you you could give them the option of finding an alternative car-there must be a slight chance of a similar or higher spec car being available in the system.

Have waited 12 weeks for my snow monster also with the new fl due not many others available

Had similar issues with Monster one with an option missing but SUK's fault not mine or dealers. Went for a reorder in the end with additional discout to original agreed price.

As an idea see what they can come up with to convert your order to an L&K, should be one of those floating about somewhere :wonder:

I had a replacement screen fitted by Skoda UK to my Superb as only one side heated (Yes, the passenger side!) - Supply price to dealer, for screen only, was over £800 + fitting.. let alone having to wire it in..!

Not deep enough for a white microwave apparently Graham. :D

When I had my screen replaced I saw the Autoglass invoice and that was over £500, so its going to be expensive. Would buy a lot of cans of deicer.

At least I got it back to the top of the list!!

Would be very interested in the conclusion of this thread.

My Mother's Yeti had the heated screen option when ordered (just checked) two years ago but not fitted.Missed it at the time.

However had a big chip in glass and replaced under the insurance policy.

Presumably they checked what was required on a Skoda system because a heated screen turned up with the man+van.

My Mother (more for convenience) had the heated screen fitted and the fitter apparently hid the wires behind dashboard.

Would a competent mechanic be able to "wire it in" presumably with a switch somewhere? Any other issues?

Any views/advice gratefully received.

It wouldn't actually be that difficult to do.

It would need an ignition controlled feed to a relay, preferably with a timer fitted, and somewhere to mount the switch.

I don't know whether VAG produce a timer relay, but certainly other manufacturers use them for heated screens (front and back)
