How long for rebate?

Featured Replies

I've just cancelled the insurance on my 1.05 Polo as my eldest has conceded she cannot manage a car without PAS. Fortunately the little critter has already found a very good home. Insurance have sent my a text this evening to confirm that they have cancelled the policy which had ten months left to run.

I'm happy so far and i've already established that as I bought the insurance up-front that i'll be due a rebate minus a £70 cancellation charge but what i'm not so sure about is how long it will take to return any (or what) funds to my account. The lass I spoke to on the phone wasn't certain how long it would take to process and I was wondering how long I should leave before badgering?

Depends how it was paid in full, but best get back on and ask how the funds are being refunded,

just incase as sometimes happens,

nothing happens. Make sure they know your Bank Details.

The lass on the phone could of as usual turned to a supervisor and said, 'here is another one asking how long it will take'.

So just go on the phone and ask again, that is not badgering.

After all It is not something out of the norm for Customers to cancel Insurance Policies and require a refund.

To be fair they stipulated it would be returned via BACS into my bank account so i'm anticipating it should be transferred shortly. Its the nothing happening that bothers me though as you can imagine, for a new driver its a sizeable amount!

Good.

The only real delaying tactics i have ever seen is Brokers not saying to return the Certificate, then saying certificate not received.

But that is not is recent years.

Well, really pleased that the rebate was returned to my account within twenty four hours of cancellation. Wasn't expecting it to be resolved so quickly but fair play it was. However having only run two months of a policy only £400 of a £730 premium has been returned. Is it me or is that really quite stingey? I was told there'd be a £70 cancellation fee but I was probably expecting a little more.
