Query for those who have changed interior carpet on VRS

Featured Replies

Alright guys,

I'm considering changing the white interior carpet for a black one, although I've been able to keep on top of the white and keep it looking good so far, there's a nagging feeling that all its going to take is one big muddy footprint.

I was just wondering if anyone could clarify if there is any need to glue the new carpet in place with contact adhesive or anything of that ilk, or is it just a case that it will be adequately held in place by the trim/fixtures?

Cheers

no adhesive required

I'm tempted to change the carpet on my 2004 vRS, as the centre section of the seats is a sort of white/silver which is a totally different shade to the white carpet!  Does anyone have a picture of a vRS with a black carpet that they can post?  Presumably it's just a case of getting a black carpet from any old Octavia, although no doubt the Laurin and Klement version probably has the nicest one.  I would imagine it might be worth getting the centre console side carpets from the donor car too, as the grey/black ones on the vRS centre console might be a different shade than the replacement carpet.

Incidentally, I'm impressed with the quality of the standard vRS carpet, it's far better quality than the cheap and nasty felt thing in the Missus's 2009 Honda Jazz EX (and that's the top of the range Jazz so you'd expect better).  If only it wasn't white!

this is basicly what you'll end up with, this was before i got my vrs steering wheel

Thanks for that.  The black carpet definitely looks better!  The white edges of the vRS mats stand out nicely against the black carpet too.

Prob one of the most satisfying mods you can do to a Mk 1 octy VRS.

Well worth doing! I changed the foam and seatcover for the driversseat at the same time.

Makes a new car

I like that centre armrest!  Is that one of those Armster ones?  If so, are they easy to fit?

With regards to the fitting and removal for ease I cut the old one out around the rear of the centre consol and cut the new one and slid it around the back!

All the cut marks are hidden and it just saves removing the entire centre consol

Nope it's not an Armster one it's a Genuine VAG one. Simple to fit just bolts in

Am I right in thinking the charcoal carpet is the better option?

You are correct if buying from a dealer. Charcoal is £120 black is £250 !

Or a very clean one for £12 from a breakers?????

the little retaining clips for the feet mats just screw out so it's easy enough to swap over

Where can you buy that armrest? Any ideas of part number and price? Also the foam base for drivers seat as my side bolster has collapsed. Many thanks,
