Problems going into 3rd gear

Featured Replies

Chaps,

Occasionally going into third has been a little difficult...sometimes the lever grinds when going in or is a bit sticky. At first I thought it must be me switching gears too quickly...especially given that a new VR6/G60 clutch+flywheel went in over xmas after a catastrophic clutch failure.

Some threads here have indicated checking the tensioners, others have said lubing the bearings under the gear stick. Which is the right way to go? Or a matter of trial and error?

Trying to avoid damaging anything and facing another huge bill!

Many thanks.

Well, I'd start by checking the gear oil level, and bleeding the clutch. These can't do any harm.

After than, check the gear mechanism adjustment before trying to lubricate anything!
