PID question - safety camera alerts

Featured Replies

ok this is embarrassing as I work in IT

have tried RTFM but no real joy

on the PID, have purchased the fixed safety camera alerts for a year

downloaded them, installed them on PID (well think I have)

how do I get them to work? what options do I need to set?

never have satnag or similar before, prefer bit of folded paper (old fashion map book etc) but as it came with car why not use it

ok

found it by shakespear and monkey method (try every combination, push enough buttons and you will find the right option)

Navigation > More functions > settings > navigation

warn safety camera, by default set to "do not warn"

in these 3 screen you can set the options to "show altitude and speed" ,"warn when exceeding speed limits" by 5,10 or 15 mph in built up outside built up areas

to name a few

Ha! Thanks for sharing your findings. These things are rarely intuitive. Be aware that in some Euro countries these warning systems are illegal and you could be fined.

I suspect that's why the warnings are off by default.

not a problem for me as I don't leave these shores,

I find when you go to a foreign country it is full of foreigners who don't speak English as there first language or provide fish and chips without calling it something posh I can't understand :)

no offence to any our non UK members intended

but why not put in the manual how to turn them on / off?

or on the page where you download them a not of how to? or like me you have a sense of being cheated until you figure it out for yourself?

...like me you have a sense of being cheated until you figure it out for yourself?

Haha - I do enjoy figuring things out for myself but clear instructions should really be there for those who don't!

Maybe that's why I also enjoy the adventure of overseas travel. Of seeing new places and cultures. The gamble of unfamiliar foods and languages. The figuring out how to get the ferry home!
