In the door mirror or vanity mirror/sun-visors?

Hi Nathanio.
is in the door mirror i want to change to led bulb.

Here is my simple guide:

1. Adjust the electric mirror so that the mirror is pointing down and inward as far as it can go.  This will expose an area between the mirror glass and the mirror casing.

2. Get your fingers (or a trim removal tool) into the exposed area, and pull gently the mirror glass downward and inward.  Be careful not to shatter the glass, but it is stronger than you think.  This will remove the mirror glass from the housing.  You will hear a "snap" as it comes out of the housing.

3. The mirror glass will have some wires on the back connected to the heater element.  The wires should be long enough for you to be able to rest the mirror glass on top of the wing mirror.

4. Inside the mirror housing you should see a black rubber bulb holder pointing sideways.  Gently pull this out.  There will be a W5W T10 bulb inside the holder.

5. The bulb doesn't point down - the light used comes from the side of the bulb.  You need to bear this in mind with your choice of bulb.  I have fitted these, and it's possible to get light from 4 of the side LEDs to line up through the lens of the mirror assembly.

6. Fit the bulb, and line up the LEDs as you re-attach the bulb holder.

7. To refit the mirror glass, line up the three metal prongs on the back of the mirror with the 3 clip points inside the mirror housing around the edges of the black circle that you can see. You need to make sure that each prong clips in properly, otherwise you will limit the movement of the mirror.

8. Job done.

Gave up trying to get at these bulbs but may try your method.

My mirror glass is heated and dimmable so god knows how much it would be to replace.

The bulbs you bought have 9 leds and are 5630 which is brighter than the 5050 led's in the bulbs I bought however yours only have two pointing in the useful direction where as mine have four. ( T10 W5W 501 4 SMD 5050 LED ERROR FREE)

So I wonder which would appear brighter?

Thanks for taking the time to detail this work.

With the right angle I can get 4 5630s pointing in the useful direction. Honestly? I'm not really a fan of the blue/white on ambient lighting, but I will see if they grow on me.

The mirrors are made up of mirror glass stuck onto a heat pad, stuck onto moulded plastic. They're pretty resilient, but your auto-dimming would cost a lot to replace. I'm sure google will yield a guide on the official way to replace the bulbs.
