Fun for sale on eBay

Featured Replies

Yep, saw this one quite recently. I've got much the same passenger area cover in yellow & it does give quite a good visual of water collecting on the tonneau as highlighted in another thread!

Don't get those problems with a Truckman :p :p

Don't get those problems with a Truckman :p :p

I'm using the very limited edition one, came as totally transparent!  :p  ;)

Truckman tops, ............good points

  1. They Keep the back dry.
  2. They keep all stuff in the bed secure..... Assuming that the lock works

Cant think off anything else................... now the down side

  1. Much harder to undo the back door, Backache dead ahead.
  2. Needs  4 people to put it on and off the back, unless you want some scratches!
  3.  What  to do with it when its off, ...
  4. Cant put a Ladder , windsurfing pole, surf  Board. Stand up freezer, Piano, or anything longer that 2 metres in the back.
  5. Tendency to look like a hearse....., apart from the colour of course.
  6. Twice the amount of glass, Some one broke my rear window.
  7.  Most of the parts are now unavailable for the one that fits the Fun
  8. Did I mention .what to do with it when its off?

True, true, however:

1. It's not *that* hard once you've sussed the way to do it. 1 person about 20 secs.

2. Usually only 2

3. Straight in the garage

4. Mostly can't disagree, although.......Piano?!?!?!?!!?!? Mind you I've had doors in the back of mine with the glassgate open, and bigger items with both gates open and a spare number-plate on the back. There were roof-bars available too.

5. The Fun looks are not for everyone, and let's face it, it looks better than the hen-hut on the back of the vans.

6. Ouch

7. All the parts are unavailable. Some git had the last OE handle/lock two years ago, from the company that tookover Truckman. Have I ever shown you my shiney "new" OE handle/lock? ;)

8. Put it on eBay

Also, I have got a "soft Truckman" (full height, full-length) with Velcro-fixed windows. 1 of a kind, made for a dealer in Scotland who turned their Fun into a white/green one (Celtic colours?). It ended it's days in a barn in Petersfield. :(

Well we've never met!....  But if you can put a truckman top back on without scratching the paint  in twenty seconds, without help, on your jack, by yourself, on your tod,  then I salute you!  You must be 8ft tall, with an armspan of an albatross. And  with the physique  of Desperate Dan,, I wouldn't like to meet you down a dark alley............Scary!

Er, I think you've merged two answers there. :o

1. Much harder to undo the back door, Backache dead ahead.

1. It's not *that* hard once you've sussed the way to do it. 1 person about 20 secs.

2.Needs  4 people to put it on and off the back, unless you want some scratches!

2. Usually only 2

The real point is.........its a friggin pickup..........putting a Truckman top on it is defeating the object,  ,You end up turning it into a Volvo estate!,,,Give me the open space ......The roar of those 75 horses.........Haha............wind in my hair,.. Well what I've got left anyway.

Can't disagree with that........ :) :)

^ Just have to concur & love the phrasing Jet. The roar of the 4 as they say!

At times could do with the practicality a truckman brings, but just don't think I could live with the look having gone 5 years + without.

Hi Rob,  I must admit, ......Quietly that having a top on has its advantages, I used to have one on a fun a few years back, and it was well handy for putting my two dogs in , especially if they've just jumped in my local pond, The one I had had roof bars as well, and I bought the cross rails from thulle, not sure of the spelling there,......but it looked pretty smart,  and I could put a ladder on it,         not sure about a piano though........

^ Hi & yep can see all the practicality issues. A piano's fine as long as you're not playing it at the time! Take care.
