Brake calipers

Featured Replies

Does anybody know if the brake calipers off a golf gti will fit an 05 plate octavia elegance with standard wheels? Thanks for any help

I believe the GTI calipers are the same as the VRS and won't fit under anything less than 16" wheels.

Hence people buying 16" steels for winter tyres.

Do you know if they're a direct fit on an octavia 2.0tdi elegance?

Nope sorry.

For the Elegance, it's a 288mm setup as standard. As such, the calipers are actually the same as the 312mm setup.

If you want to run 312s, you need to change the disc carrier, to hold the larger disc.

As said, you'll need a minimum of a 16" wheel for these, for clearance reasons. But the Elegance came with 16s as standard so you should be fine, unless you've fitted smaller wheels for some reason!

Thanks for that very helpful loads of information, so the gti calipers will bolt straight on and work fine with the original 288 discs?

You don't need to swap the calipers. They're the same.

Just the carriers, for the larger disc to fit into.

Unless you're asking because your current calipers have a problem? Most people ask because they want to run the larger disc  :)
