vRS in for it's second service today

Featured Replies

So I hand in my "sporty" family 200BHP vRS Hatchback and get a noddy car in return. I have a petrol CityGo, now I'm sure that it is a very good city car, but compared to my vRS it is wow-full, no steering feedback (the vRS is far from the best out there, but at least I have an idea what is going on), no brakes to speak of, no go.

Interesting Petrol engine, sounds different - not sure what it has fitted - has tiny alloy wheels.

Roll-on 3PM when I get mine back.

I tbought the same when my vrs went into skoda.

I had to take the citigo on the m4 and it struggled to reach 70. It is only a 1.0 tho

Just handed my S4 over to get the bumper painted as some numpty hit the back when they were parking and they have given me a nice shiny S5 cabriolet to punt about in for the next few days........nice :)

Had the call and it is ready to collect, can't find anything wrong with the notchy 1st to 2nd gear change when the box is cold - just like my old Mark IV Golf - so some VAG traits just carry on.

Was hoping that they might offer to change the gearbox oil to see if that made it any better.

My like is that you got an S5 whilst yours was in - not that some numpty hit it - though I'd better clear that up - LOL

Change gearbox oil for sure. Well not 100% certain but it cured my similar issue and they'd be daft not to change it so it's ruled out.

But they'll likely say it's 'sealed for life', never needs changing or some other dealer-type waffle.

My Mark IV gearbox was the same when the box was cold, I will see how I get on over the Winter when it is especially cold in the morning.

Driving a basic car does make you appreciate your own when you get it back.

Put £3 worth of unleaded in it on the way back and it showed higher than when I got it - so I guess a small 3 cylinder engine has it advantages.

the tanks are tiny paul. I made the same mistake and ended up giving them nearly a full tank. Saying that it used 1/2 a tank in the time we had it and only did about 70 miles on that

For the sake of the cost of the 'box oil, I'd just go ahead and get it changed. Least you know it's done then.

How many miles has yours done? I wouldn't expect it to be an issue on any FLs yet TBH.

18K so hardly run in yet - perhaps I'm being fussy - the 1st to 2nd change isn't as slick as the others.

Agreed, that's no mileage at all. But could have been an iffy transmission oil at the factory for example, or the fill wasn't done correctly.

I know exactly what you mean about the shift, I had an issue into reverse as well. Completely cured on mine with a fluid change.

Sadly had to take it back in on Saturday as I discovered dirty oil on the garage floor - sloppy oil change and the tech had allowed dirty oil from the filter to run down the front of the block.

I just had the gearbox oil replaced on our Octavia Scout.

Made the world of difference.

Had to ring around a few Skoda dealers though, most claimed it was life long oil.

Yep, you get the usual 'sealed for life' answer from some....

Does make you realise how 'bad' (relatively) the shift action was before....
