Just wonder it's worthy original factory alarm system twice the price dealer is offering.

thanks

Why do you need another alarm?

The factory alarm is Thatcham approved.

you mean there is standard alarm system? I thought there is only immobilizer.

Thatcham cat 1 alarm and immobiliser as standard.

Inspired by this question to check mine, having never tried it before, I see (hear) that the din occasioned by triggering the thing is indeed of a "proper alarm" variety rather than the feeble bog standard car horn sort fitted to the Hyundai i10.  You learn something new every.....so often.

thanks didn't know that, good to know because I missed that in the specs..

Makes me wonder what type of alarm system the dealer is offering? One that costs extra money obviously.

Zorro, a little homework can sometimes pay off. You even inspired Oldstan to check out the security system on his Yeti to find that it is a proper alarm to his joy.

My insurers (in Netherlnd)  didn't approve the standard system Had to have another one fitted

I think you may find that the UK spec alarm is completely different to that of the Netherlands and much of Europe. I know it is the standard "Factory Fitted" option fitted for UK specification vehicles from many different vehicle manufacturers: Mercs - BMWs - Audi - Volvo - Porsche - Jaguar - VW etc & Skoda is right up there with them. The Thatcham Category 1 alarm is I believe, the top specification of an alarm and is made by a great number of manufacturers.
