Boost spike issue

Featured Replies

Had a turbo issue this week that turned out to be a damaged blade on the hot side from something getting through my engine. However originally it was thought to be worn bearing and shaft as there was very slight play and when the boost was measured although it was requesting 1.6 bar it was spiking at 1.9 bar.

Any issues that can cause this? I read boost leak could but after turbo was refitted it was checked for leaks and there are non, also not sticking vnt as this was checked also.

Thanks

I take it vanes are sticky free?

Enough vacuum getting to the actuator?

Dodgy MAP sensor?

Vanes are all good they werent sticking before and now its been recon'd they definately arent. Any way to diagnose map sensor or is it a case of changing it to see?

On a seperate note hows your map going now?

Not sure what along of a doggy Map sensor looks like so yeah guess only way is to change it. You got VCDS to do a log of group 11?

Maps great thanks. Just wish I had a better clutch lol

Someone suggested it might be vacuum box. Will have to look into that too as mine was second hand from an 130 asz golf. Sure i checked the letter at the end though and it matched what someone put on here.

I do have vcds im guessing 11 is the boost one.

And i got a dual friction clutch from cg motorsports that has no problems with my stage 1 map, if i put too much power down its the tyres that struggle.

Yeah 11 is actual vs requested. Log from just below 2k to redline.

Vacuum box is the easiest out the two to change.
