Central Locking Not Working from Fob

Featured Replies

As above, my central locking won't work with my fob.

I have changed the battery, tried to hold the unlock button down whilst ignition on 1. Its the only key I have which is a pain.

I have searched here and goggle and can't find a definitive answer

So simple questions

1) Is there a simple way to reset the key if so what is it?

2) Do I need to get to a dealer to reset?

Page 50 of the manual explains how to sync the key....if not just let me know...

Just noticed, each manual is different.....try this

If the vehicle cannot be unlocked by actuating the remote control system then it is
possible that the code in the key and the control unit in the vehicle are no longer
synchronised. This can occur when the buttons on the radio-operated key are actuated
a number of times outside of the operative range of the equipment or the battery on
the remote control was replaced.
This means it is necessary to synchronise the code as follows:
? Press any button on the remote control.
? pressing of the button means that the door will unlock with the key within 1
minute.

My manual says that, but what does it actually mean.

I have pressed any button on the remote, nothing.

I have held down the lock and unlock button for over one minute, nothing.

I have held down the lock and unlock button for over one minute with the key in the ignition and the ignition on, nothing

Help?????

Think I read somewhere you need 2 keys to do the syncro?

One goes in the ignition while you do the unlocking with the other key (the one that needs coding/synchronising) on the drivers door.

Edited to add this;

Just found this not sure if any good, hope there is no copyright?

Worth a try:

1. Place your first key into the ignition and turn to the second notch (do not start the car)

2. Now close the door and place your second key into the handle lock

3. Turn the key to the lock position and let it spring back to the central position.

4. Hold down the Lock button on your new remote, you may hear a bleep from the car

5. Now unlock the car using the key in the barrel and remove, then take your first key out of the ignition

6. Close the door

7. Your remote should now be coded

Regards

If im honest im not sure as not come across this before but for security i suspect you will need to have the other key in the ignition for it to sync....so have a go and try what

Got this all fixed now. With a fantastic new key as below, yes it might not be original Skoda but what I wanted. Also found out my other key was dead so a new one of them two. Great now being able to open the car up again.

that's a nice looking remote! :)

Where did you get the key from and how did you get it to open and close the doors? I have the same problem as you had.

Cheers

Contact the person who posted above you for the whole process.

Also found out I have a problem with my convenience unit, which will have to wait as they are bloody expensive

Where did you get the key from and how did you get the remote central locking to work with the key?

cheers

as Mattcut has already said, contact the person who's post is above your 1st post in this topic!

Hi Just to update this thread

This also applies to various other vw skoda seat models.

if your key fob stops locking unlocking your doors then follow this guide it worked for me:

first check the battery in fob. Easy way to tell is if the small light on fob blinks when any button pressed then the battery should be ok. If not there is easy way to change battery just check youtube.

if battery is fine then lock the car manually with key through door handle. Wait 5 mins. Then press the unlock button on the fob which will obv not unlock the car but still press it once. Within one min of pressing the unlock button you need to put the key into door handle lock and manually unlock the door. Get into the car and put the key into ignition and turn it on. Few seconds turn ignition back off and take out the key. Close the door and now check the fob it should be working now.B)

I have a 57 reg Octavia estate which I have had from new. I have 2 original keys fitted with new batteries. Recently the remote locking stopped working after the car battery went flat. After getting the car battery checked and re-charged I was able to get remote locking working again on one of the key fobs by following some of the instructions in this thread.

However, I have not been able to get remote locking working again on the other key after several attempts.

The key seems to be otherwise OK. It locks and unlocks the door when inserted in the lock, and it stops the alarm and starts the engine. When I swap circuit boards in the keys, the other key works instead of the one that worked before, i.e. the fault seems to lie with the circuit board.

How is it that I have been able to fix one key but not the other? Am I missing something? Does anybody have any extra tips for following the instructions here?
