Diesel Leak

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone.

Not sure if anyone can help me on this I have a Diesel Leak on my 2.0 TDI PD engine, the diesel is pooling underneath the fuel filter housing. I had a service the other day fuel filter was changed noticed a leak took the car back today and i've had a new fuel filter and seal fitted and cleaned down again. Checked again this evening and it;s pooling up again. Obviously this isn't a fuel filter issue as I've had it replaced. I cant see any obvious leaks from the top of the filter and the lines look fine, also I cant feel any holes or cracks underneath the housing although a bit rough in parts.

Has anyone else had this issue or shed any light on this?

Thanks,

JLR.

Make sure the old seal has been removed, sometimes they can stick, you think they came off but didn't and two seals won't seal, if you know what i mean.

Or worse , having been over tightened and done some damage.

Had it on my vec.....He mechanic tightened it as much as he could and it stopped..... You may even have to replace the diesel fuel filter housing....

I had a diesel leak on my BKD.  It was the "Tandem pump"

and those housings are the best part of £200...ouch!

Yep nearly £200. My the dealer tried to charge me for a new one at a free service when they couldn't get the top off, claiming it was seized. My local independent got it off, put a new seal on and retightened it without any difficulty!

Thanks for the replies all I've been keeping an eye on it over the weekend and all seems ok now (I hope) When I run my hand over the edge on the top it all seems dry and cant see anything leaking down the sides of the housing, the underneath seems clear now aswell. I will keep watch over the next few days and see what happens.

They certainly are - cheap plastic crud that are only a GM part. Luckily when mine went my local garage is very good and only charged me for the part and not fitting. The swirl valves went shortly after the filter housing followed by a £550 MOT failure - all on a 5 year old, 42k miles car! It was changed shortly afterwards.
