skoda fun engine problems

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Hoping that someone here can help me out. I have a 'T' reg fun which out bought in good faith earlier this year. Yesterday it severly overheated with possible engine damage. Previous owner had it as a project and fitted a 1.4 VW engine (poss Polo), not sure what engine code is specific to the fun. I know it should be a 1.6, but need some advice on where to go from here. Please help I want to take it back to original with help of a buddy and want to keep her as I love driving this pickup. Thanks

Where abouts are you, I have a complete 1.6 with everything needed to fit.

Sandiacre in nottinghamshire just off the m1

Possible engine damage? I'd find out first. I'd wager the thermostat housing has broken.

The Fun normally houses the VW 1.6 mpi AEE unit. Thermostat was my first thought & agree some more investigation would be warranted before considering another engine swap.

Thanks guys, Sound advice is just what I need right now. I'll do some more investigating and see what comes to light. Not rushing into anything as i'm keeping her for the long term anyway even  if I have to sorn. Many thanks

I used to live at the back of Friesland so if I'm ever back down with my Fun we can compare bodywork duck!

Just remembered that "trudlenut" is pretty close to you and seems knowledgeable, so could be helpful in your diagnosis. Good luck.
