no more fabia vrs! :/

Featured Replies

I mentioned in the other thread that Skoda learnt with the Octavia to offer a petrol and diesel variant, but it seems daft they didn't offer the same with the Fabia.

They seemed to pave the way for a sporty diesel with the mk1 but went completely the wrong way with the mk2.

The reason the mk2 fabia vrs didnt sell is simple!

It had the wrong engine! And coupled with the fact the 1.4tsi is a dog of an engine is it any wonder!

Should have had a derv power plant!

I made a few of these points in a similar thread

over in the 'other' fabia forum on here and got rounded up

on good and proper for having an opinion on a car I never bought.

What they never seemed to grasp is that I could have bought one,

newer than the car I eventually bought. I really wanted to like the mark 2,

just as much as I previously liked the mark1 but I couldn't get over

the obvious (to me anyway) flaws with the 'recipe' Skoda came up

with to make the mark two Fab vRS package. It's the Mark 2s

fault the mark 3 isn't happening, If it had been more like the sucessful

package that made the mark 1 so popular then it would have sold more.

Very few of them would have needed a 2nd or sometimes even 3rd

engine (which must have killed the margin on these stone dead) and

I'd bet a fiver that a Mark 3 would have been approved.

It's a classic case of over egging the pudding.

Must just be where I live then!

That's the same as me bud. You hardly ever see them around where I live. When I went down to where my Gran stayed tho that was a different story. They were everywhere.

I was going to say, I knew there wasn't going to be any more mk1 Fabia vRS back in 2007 odd. :D

Until bossfox showed up in his 09 plate SE :P

Until bossfox showed up in his 09 plate SE :p

But that car had sat somewhere for over a year before being registered.  From memory, the plan to do the 1,000 SE's was all part of a big final "hurrah" for the mark 1, so was probably common knowledge as far back as 2006?

Was to get rid of all the optional extras wasn't it.
