no more fabia vrs! :/

Featured Replies

Been posted a couple of times in the Fabia Mk II section... It is a real shame, makes me love mine just that little bit more.

I think what has been said (on the top gear page) about people wanting the looks but not an engine they can't afford has been echoed on the mk1 forum a number of times. People were saying that there should have been a mk2 vrs with a diesel engine because that was half the draw of the mk1 vrs. For me personally I just don't like the looks of the mk2.

Exactly right! I remember phoning a dealer about parts, til him I have the mk1, and he said they're better than the new ones :)

The Mk1 fabia VRS's tend to keep their value quite well. Surely over the years the value should retain. Even now I struggle to find many fabia mk1 VRS's, so in the future they should be very rare, worth keeping hold of ?

I think so! I'll be keeping hold of mine. 07 plate with 43k on the clock so quite low mileage too. I'll have mine for some time yet - love it!

I reckon they might've sold more if there was a proper gearbox available.

Main complaint with the mk2 seems to be that there isn't a diesel version. Shame skoda have forgotten how popular the mk1 diesel vrs is/was compared to the new ones. You would think they would already trial the diesel I'm certain it would shift shed loads of the mk2 vrs' s.

If the Monte Carlo came with a more powerful diesel it would probably out sell the mk2 vrs.

...They're destined to be a true classic!

no

One with the Ibiza FR (2.0 CR140) engine and a 6 speed manual box would be very nice.   B)

Really? Mine has deprecated a grand maybe more in a year of it was standard or modded and same to many others I talk to. How can you struggle to find one aswell. I see a minimum of two a day and not always the same ones. Just look on all the classified sites there are no end for sale so far from hard to find :s . Dont get me wrong they are a good car but some people think way to highly of them in my opinion of course.

The fabia CR 1.6 engines remap to just over standard mk1 figures, ~140BHP

I'm not a fan of these small supercharged and turbocharged petrol engines with the DSG, would much prefer a big turbo diesel lump on a manual.

+1

Wish they'd do another up to date mk1, the mk2 doesn't look very attractive nothing like the mk1 on looks. What was wrong with the mk1 to change it so dramatically to the mk2?

The corsa vxr still looks similar to the 06 plate but just updated it. Why couldn't they have done the same for the fabia vrs mk1

Nearly all the "new" cars look very soft, round and curvy so i guess the Mk1 Fabia would like a bit dated compared to all other cars coming out, a facelift in 05 or 06 would have been nice, just small changes.

Skoda should read this forum maybe then they would realise why the mk2 Fabia was such a total flop!

I'll look forward to selling mine in a couple of years. Being an se too should help it keep its value

:)

The mk2 is an awful looking thing.

And +1 on the vrs are everywhere comment. See 3 a day sometimes

In honesty the mk2 looks better, has better interior and is more upto date, I'm sure most people overall in an unbiased review off the street would say this. The mk1 is not a horrible car don't get me wrong.

I think the front end on the mk1 looks better but that's it. However as said for overall reliability, fun, looks, tweak ability, Mpg, poke for the price it is/can be picked up for you can't beat it its what you get for the price that makes it so attractive.

Must just be where I live then! Lol, also yeah a facelift would have been good, plus with a bit more updated interior, and touch lower would have been great. Maybe some slightly different colours aswell.

The only thing I like about the mk2 is the rear diffuser

Giving a 8 year old car another facelift isn't going to cut it with newer cars. I think they look good, standard they are too high just like our mk1s. Hit them with the lowering stick and they instantly gain that low and wide look. I'd have preferred a manual box, maybe a diesel too but the biggest issue for me was the worry of it it'd break and cost £100000 to fix.
