Stupid question time......

Featured Replies

Ok i dont actually have one thats why Im asking! (might be completely obvious if you actually have one)

How do the universal cargo net dog guards actually secure in the car? As in if they are tied to something what are they tied to in the roof?!

Im talking like these ones.......

Does the one below even tie?!

Reason for asking is my dealer is lending me an octy estate to go away for a week as mine wont be built by then as he promised me. Anyways they can source the cross roof bars I need for the roof box but not the dog guard so im thinking one like this would do (as the dogs are angels in the car anyway its more to stop said dogs careering through the car if an impact was to occur) as its only a temporary thing.

Any help or advice gratefully received!

I can't help answer your question but as a new dog owner I've been looking at items to secure my new companion in the car. Would a net like that really hold a dog back in the boot? I looked briefly at them but assumed they'd be useless.

As for securing them, I'm guessing the handle above the door could be somewhere to tie it? Maybe too far forward

I thought it may be too far forward also? Hmm guess I will hope someone else knows the answer lol. Its only temporary for me and my dogs dont ever try and get over the seats anyways. I will be buying a 'proper' metal dog guard from travall when they have the design for the octy 3 (which hopefully will be soon)

There should be 4 U shaped brackets that the dog guard fits to, either the full metal one or a temporary one, the on shown looks more like a cargo net than a dog guard.  Does not look Labrador proof, he would have eat that by the end of any reasonable journey and be looking for afters.

The one I pictured is basically a cargo net. Def wouldnt be labrador (or most dog) proof. My old lab used to eat anything lol. He once took a chunk out of my steering wheel!! However I know my current pair wont touch it and as its only a very temp thing it doesnt have to be a metal one. Thanks for the info about the U shaped brackets thats cool and should work ok then!

Just a thought ..

If its temp and you have a cargo rack on the roof, why not tie the top ties to that and trap them in the back doors?

Should be pretty tight in the event of any careering dogs.

Ah got the car tonight - handles above the door are too far forward to use for the cargo net.
