Is under bonnet insulation equipped as standard?

Featured Replies

If I remember correctly it was around the £30 mark when you get it from your dealer and is a simple 5 or 6 minute job to install it & it improves the look of the engine compartment by making it look more finished, than without it.

Most of the noises from my TSI come from the (sometimes annoying) sound generator. The TSI unit itself is extremely refined for a 4 cylinder, and I personally would prefer to hear it over the generator. Sound deadening is not needed in my opinion, but my last few cars have been diesels so the TSI is big step up in refinement and performance.

I like a quiet car, if i wanted something noisy I wouldn't have chosen an Octavia.

The sooner I can get the generator thing switched off the better. As I've said somewhere else on this fora, it would be nice if you could switch it off via the infotainment system and that can't be too difficult for some programmer to do with a simple update to it.

Thanks for the price info earlier on the sound insulator pad. I agree completely with your comments about liking a quiet car. I've already turned off the sound generator using VCDS - a great improvement in my view. I think the TSI engine is basically a very nice, smooth engine, and I think the sound generator does it no favours at all.
